The Advent Of The Snoring Room

By

Snoring ProblemI like to keep up with the trends in floor plan design with new home builders and one I learned of late is

The Advent Of The Snoring Room.

Typically found in age 55 and older communities, some by Del Webb and DR Horton, these "dual owner" suites have a little room off to the side of the Master Bedroom. Designed to alleviate deep into the night loud snoring by one partner or even being fidgity or the restless leg syndrome, couples can start out together but end up apart. I haven't seen this in my area yet but do you think it saves marriages long in the tooth? Hmmm... I wonder.

Got to wonder how you convert this "small" room off to the side into something else later on.

A sitting room with a door?

Wow I can't say I've ever heard of a snoring room (yet), the concept makes sense but does it really help if it's just off the master?  I know there are times my husband falls asleep on the couch in the living room and I can still hear him snoring!

Thankfully none of my family members snore but if they did, I like to think no remodeling would be necessary. Maybe I'm just a deep sleeper?

Funny but true :)  Thank goodness neither Debbie or I snore.  Well not that we're aware of anyway.  Now our Mini Schnauzer, Dixie she can toss out some snores!  Maybe we need to consider putting her in a snoring room!

Mom's first home in Virginia had a MBR with a sitting room which would have made a perfect snoring room. It had two doors which you could close or leave open if you didn't need it. I would love a MBR with a sitting room. Lindsey snored so I could have put her in there.  Me I don't snore but Mom sure does.

It could be a TV room, a nursery, another walk in closet, a sick room or a  dog house...as he's in the dog house now!

Hi Gary,

This is a new one on me too. However I do know of a couple where one spouse slept in the walk-in closet because of snoring.

These comments are great, particularly converting the room afterward for the next buyers. The walk in closet Lynda?

Gary,

I'm sure glad I don't have a need for a snoring room. However, this sure explains why so many married couples have separate bedrooms, or why the rich and famous have seven or more bedrooms! There sure seems to be a lot of ad today about snoring too!

A computer room would work out nicely.  Upon resale years later... perhaps a nursery for the children or grand children?
