We’ve been getting down to the nitty gritty of real estate lately. There have been some great posts on AR lately about simple organizational methods. Not a moment too soon! Like a lot of REALTORS lately we’ve been consumed with activity…offers, contracts, listings, new buyers, revamping marketing, more new buyers…

Oddly enough, even though this isn’t Monday when I usually post some sort of musical video - I woke up with a song I hadn’t heard in YEARS and now I can’t get it out of my head. I guess because it always reminded me of forward motion and not having time to take a breath. That’s what it is feeling like lately…forward motion.

Lenders are offering excellent products, money seems a little looser, public confidence seems a little more positive and people are looking at properties in the mountains of Western North Carolina that have been neglected for the last couple of years. It feels GREAT to show vacant land and second homes again.

But…it sure means there is less free time and it’s time to hurtle ourselves forward and run through the briars and run through the brambles…you know what I mean, getting down to the nitty gritty! Let this tune haunt your week too so I'll know I'm in good company!

I love the Dirt Band. My husband is a bluegrass picker and we got to meet and hang out with John McEuen and Jimmy Ibbitson at a festival a few years ago. It was so cool.

If you like great tunes...check out this youtube video from Colin Hay. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvAyFLnoFlA The song is Overkill. It was a hit for the 80's band Men At Work. This accoustic version will blow you away. I would love to know what you think of the song.

Debbie, that was a sweet video. Interesting to hear that song sung as a ballad. I do remember Men at Work playing it but I never knew the title. Thanks so much for the recommendation.

Although the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is more a contemporary band of mine, I find it hard to think of anyone other than the great Johnny Horton himself doing this song. But no matter the stylists, the song is a catchy favorite. Of course, now I will be tapping my toes to this one all day long because of you ...

Mona, Thanks for the break from reality (realty). It has been a wild ride for me lately. I almost drug the trash cans out to the curb this morning. My husband said "what are you doing?' I sais "isn't it trash day?" He said "no trash day is on Thursday - today is only Wednesday."
