Beware of the Drunk!

It's that time of year again. My dear late mother used to call this the, "Drunks Christmas". Most people call this New Years Eve. This is one day out of the year that even those of us who normally don't drink take a swig from the old bottle. It's just one big worldwide celebration. So bring out the champagne and lets have a drink.

There is nothing wrong with having a little drink but better watch yourself. The police will be watching and they will not be very friendly. Maybe it's because they can't have a drink, or maybe they are looking out for the safety of innocent people as you swerve by in that wonderful car of yours. They will not cut you any slack and they shouldn't.

I hate hearing the same old story every year of the family that lost there live because of some drunk driver just had to get behind the wheel. If you are going to drink make plans to get yourself home for yourself and the safety of others. If you don't have a drink and are driving somewhere beware of the drunk. car crash

this is the very reason we don't leave the house on New Year's anymore...not worth the trouble! =) happy new year to you!

In Hawaii most people stay home and blow fireworks and BBQ.

There's a few times a year you won't find me on the highways - new years eve, Memorial Day, July 4, etc. Having worked in bars while I was younger, I realized just how many idiots get in their cars after drinking too much (or even just a few). I'd rather be sitting at home on my sofa all safe and cozy that risking my life out "there."

I forget where I saw something once (can't remember if it was an article, TV report, study, etc), but it broke down the # of cars on the road at a certain hour and how many could be presumed to have had some alcohol. My numbers are way off - as I can't recall or find whatever it is I saw, but it went something like this:

10 pm - 35% of drivers on the road have had some alcohol (whether it be one glass of wine or a case of beer)
11 pm - 50% of drivers on the road have had some alcohol
12 am - 80% of drivers on the road have had some alcohol
2 am - 90% of drivers on the road have had some alocohol

*well, you get the general idea*

When you take the time to think seriously about your odds out there, it's kind of scary!

We also stay at home new years eve. Just seems to be a little safer. I do wish we were in Hawaii with Randy soaking up the sun and watching fireworks and BBQ.ing. We are having a little snow storm today, only a meager 1-2 inches.

Leigh and Jay I used to stay home to but started to go to church. In most areas local churchs have a whole day of worship with food that is a good atmoshere for the family. In El Paso 37 churches have gotten together for a program. They have a theam every year I think this is The Year Of Worship. Other wise I wouldn't let my family leave the house. They are going to church, I'm out of the country stuck where I am but new years means I can come home soon.

Randy i'm jealous I would love to be in Hawaii right now.
