One of the most important things that buyers who have children or plan to have children look for when looking for a home is a neighborhood with good schools.  Sometimes this is an over riding concern of buyers.  Here are two great sites where buyers and can get information on schools in area they are looking at:

GreatSchools.net -  This site helps parents choose the best school by providing comprehensive profiles for more than 120,000 schools nationwide, both public and private schools. Each school get an overall rating, information on test scores, parent reviews, information on the school environment and an overview of the school district.  You can also compare public and private schools in an area. The web site is owned by GreatSchools Inc., a nonprofit organization located in San Francisco.

SchoolMatters.com - This site provides information on public schools.  It is run by Standard & Poor's School Evaluation Services.  This site also gives test scores, parent ratings, student/teacher ratios, information on the school district and a lot more informations.

These are two great sites for anyone looking for information about schools in a region, town or neigborhood.

Often older buyers think that schools are not important in their decision.  What they are forgetting is that some day they may be a seller and their buyer will put importance on schools.

Oh so true!  I have had listings that were absolutely gorgeous, however, the elementary school was a "title one" school.  I was competing against homes that were in great school districts and it was tough!
