'Tis the Season for Sneez'n

If you live in The Texas Hill Country you will notice the spring-like weather. This means the dreaded "allergies" word.

You may think you have a spring cold. Your nose is running, your eyes are watering, you have a headache and a cough. However, chances are it's allergies.

A few things you can do to help avoid allergies:
  • Try to stay inside on days when pollen is bad.
  • Clean your house often to keep allergens under control.
  • Shower often and change your clothes after being outside.
  • Wash your hair
  • Change your bedding often
  • Try over-the-counter medications
  • If the symptoms linger and all else fails go to your doctor.
Happy Spring to all our friends in The Texas Hill Country.
Just enjoy all the wonderful plants and trees that are blooming.
Bluebonnets, Mountain Laurel, Redbuds are blooming.

Hi Carl,

I have to take allergy medicine every day and this has been the case for proibably close to 20 years. Allergy issues I think come with the turf of living in Texas and Texas Gulf Coast. Good blog telling folks what they can do to help their own situation.

Take care and happy St. Paddy's day to you and Ceil..

Bob: The oak trees are raining leaves and when they begin to put on new leaves Ceil has a problem with the yellow tassels that fall, so we have a few weeks of bad allergies from the oak pollan. I think she takes an OTC medication and it helps.

C & C,

This is a very important message and I'm thankful you outlined such important tips to keep those allergies in check. We're having the same problems up here in the Dallas Fort Worth Area. It seems as if almost everyone is effected by the pollen. We've had such an unusual winter - did we even have a winter? Blue Bonnets are popping up all over. They don't generally start in the DFW area until the first week in April. The daffodils are already gone and the Wisteria thinks it's the beginning of May! Right now I have chrysanthemums, begonias, roses, irises, and a few spring flowers blooming in my garden ALL at the same time! Does this mean, there won't be any left for the rest of the seasons?

People are sneezing, coughing and popping allergy pills. I've never seen anything like it!!!

Thanks for your great tips. I had to suggest it. After all, TX is the biggest state in the U.S.A. so many people will appreciate it. I sure hope you get featured!!!

Patricia

C & C I have allergies so I have been sneezing non-stop. I am used to it so it doesn't bother me very much. I do like the beautiful flowers and the color that they bring.

Hi, C&C ~ I do love spring, but I suffer from allergies. It's a good thing they make pills for the symptoms. Is that your beautiful yard? I love it!

Yolanda: No its not our lawn. I'm not sure where Ceil got that photo from, probably one of the flower shows or garden centers.

My daughter and I were both doing a little sneezin' today but it wasn't too bad.  Love the colorful flowers!

Shirley: Suppose to get some rain, maybe it will settle the oakpollen. Ceil says this is the happy background as she loves anything with flowers.

Very good tips for those that suffer with allergies.

Dolores and I went to the National Zoo in Washington, DC a few days ago and our car was coated with pollen when we returned to the parking lot.

We have a beautiful sunny day in Maryland.  The cherry and pear blossoms are beautiful and the spring flowers are blooming.  We have new camellia blooms in our garden.

Toni: It's windy here today and the pollen is heavy.
