Chasco Fiesta is Almost Here! March 23- March 31, 2012 in New Port Richey Florida- 9 Days of Fun and Giving

Chasco Fiesta is 9 days of fun and entertainment along the beautiful Pithlachascotee River in
Chasco Fiesta Logodowntown New Port Richey-Florida.

Some of the activities to look forward to are:
A Native American Pow Wow and Festival with Native American dancers from all over the country.
A boat parade, a street parade, the Coronation Ball, a golf tournament, bowling tournament. There will be concerts every night in the park, an
award-winning beef barbecue, softball tournaments, arts and crafts, a car, truck and bike show, a pet adoption fair, a carnival and midway, and so much more.

In fact, there is so much going on that you might want to check out and bookmark the Chasco Fiesta calendar.  Look for the start of all the fun and mostly free entertainment on Friday evening, March 23, 2012.

Native American Dancers

You don't want to miss any of the fun! It's New Port Richey's oldest tradition.

In 1922  New Port Richey, the citizens wanted a celebration to attract people to the thriving new city to raise money for the community library. Gerben DeVries, the city’s first postmaster, was inspired by his interest in Florida Indian tribes and the beautiful river flowing through the city so he combined the two to create a fictional pageant. This pageant gave the celebration its theme, the beautiful Pithlachascotee River loaned its name to the central characters (King Pithla and Queen Chasco) and a tradition was born. (thank you Chasco Fiesta).

Come and see how it has evolved into a tradition of giving to the community.
Monies raised by Chasco Fiesta go to help non-profit organizations in our local community.

Toni,

Living in California, we associate Fiestas with Mexican, Spanish and  other Latin American events.  Yours has the native American bent to, and i wonder if the word "Fiesta" has become a word for a celebration in general.  This sounds like a wonderful celebration and fun filled events.  A

Howdy and evening Toni

Toni my friend

This here sure is another one of the mighty fine Localism blog post to help folks know what's taking place in New Port Richey!

May the warm rays of Sunshine of happiness always find their way too and fall upon you and your family!

Have a good one
