Yes folks, it’s that time of year again when players dust off their bats and come out to the Bond Park Community Center for a fun-filled weekend of table tennis! The Butterfly Cary Cup Championship is an internationally-recognized event held annually in March in Cary, North Carolina. The event is sanctioned by the USATT, and players compete for a grand prize – $16,000+ in cash and other goodies. The tournament lasts Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and the winner is announced at the end. Spectators are invited to come and watch, it is definitely worth it! The event is run by Mike Babuin and family, and being that they are friends of mine, I have had the honor to work as a volunteer a few years in the past. The atmosphere is fast-paced, but very fun. I highly recommend checking it out for at least one day! Admission for spectators is free, you can find more information by following thislink.
