Oh Nuts...Nuts and More Nuts Everywhere!!

This morning while driving in Loma Linda, CA, I was noticing all the birds flying, the squirrels jumping on the trees and all the sounds coming from outside my window. Here was a cute little fellow eating nuts.

Then in a huge tree about 300 Feet High I noticed this bird. Not sure if it is an owl or a hawk but it was huge. I took one picture but it flew off as I tried to get a better one.

Kristin, sometimes in our busy lives we forget to slow down and appreciate what's around us.

I think it's an owl:) Well, I don't its head, but it seems to me like an owl. Maybe somebody else will have a better idea:)

Hi Joanna,

I think it is an owl too and it was huge. It has spots on his wings and I am pretty sure he is a spotted owl but wasn't 100 percent sure as we have a lot of hawks around here as well. Thanks for stopping and your partner in your picture is adorable.

Hi Gloria,

I sometimes just get lucky as I did today. I am always looking up. I had come from fancy luncheon and was dressed up so I grabbed some flats and my camera and was walking up the street. I bet I looked funny to drivers passing. But like I always say....anything for the photograph. Thanks and have a great weekend. I am going back tomorrow and try to get a cleaner snowy owl picture and who knows what else I might find!

This owl was huge and I really wish I could have gotten a nice face view but it is a start. I think they tend to go to the same trees so I am watching. I went by this morning but no owls! I know they are preditors but they look so cute and sweet.

Hi Kwee,

We typically have gray squirrels and they really blend into the terrain. Hard to get their pictures as they are so well camouflaged. This particular group of squirrels are blue black with blue eye. I think they call these flying monkeys as they fly across the trees after the leaves fill in. They build their nests up high in the trees. I will get more pictures when the trees have more foliage. I cannot tell if it is a hawk or an owl but he was HUGE! I went back today and got a side and butt shot but he just won't look at me. I will keep trying.
