Wenatchee, Washington: Real Estate Is Still A Great Investment!

 On a challenge from Chris Griffith from Bonita Springs, Florida here's my post on why it is a good time to buy real estate in Wenatchee, Washington.

What are the primary reasons for buying real estate in this central Washington location?
  * Inexpensive power (Chelan & Douglas, among 3 least expensive counties in the entire nation)
  * Dry desert air.
  * 300 days of sunshine
  * Recreational opportunities galore
  * Best apples in the world!
  * Named 2006 Safest City in Washington State
  * Unemployment at 16-year low (3.5%)

The pictures above are, from left to right: The Federal building, with Post Office,  Wenatchee Police Station, then two wonderful samples of our "Art on the Avenues" display of dozens of statues scattered around town.  We even have an authentic civil war cannon, in the park below the courthouse.  Here is a link to more info on the Skookum Indian head from above.

The market dynamics in Wenatchee clearly indicate a continuation of the strong market for real estate, with continued appreciation.  We have a strong and diverse economy with the following major employers, not in any particular order:
  * Agriculture (fruit production)
  * Hydroelectric Power
  * Local, State, and Federal government
  * Aluminum Production (ALCOA)
  * Educational services
  * Medical Services
  * Tourism

Also, here is an article I wrote earlier about rising home prices.  Buy now and enjoy the benefits of future price increases.

Carol, it was nice reading about your area and what it has to offer.  I didn't know about the "dry desert air" in central WA, or about the inexpensive power.  How low are we talking about?  What would a typical 3/2 home pay during the summer & winter months (range/estimate)?

Carole - thanks for sharing this info on your area.  I had no idea you had dry desert air and that much sunshine in Washington!

Leanne, I added a link to an "inexpensive power" article I wrote earlier so that may give you a little additional insight.  This inexpensive power is the main reason Yahoo has opened a facility here and Microsoft is expanding into the area... and why ALCOA (the aluminum plant) stays.

Ann, The dry desert air, 300 days of sunshine, and recreational opportunities is why the baby boomers are flocking here to build and buy their vacation and/or retirement homes.  We are on the eastside of the Cascade Mountain range and, while Seattle is famous for rain... we are like another world here in Central Washington.

Carol - Thanks for sharing - I've passed through Wenatchee on my way to Twisp... That is some beautiful country, but I wasn't aware of the positive economic situation.

The State of Washington is probably the closest thing to paradise that we have in the US.
