The weather system that froze Midwest states is expected to arrive in the Northeast after the Thursday morning commute, according to NBC WeatherPlus meteorologist Bill Karins. "Everyone will get to work just fine, but getting home should be ugly," he said. "A heavy burst of snow and sleet will fall from New York City to southern New England, especially between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Snow totals from the first storm could be 4-6 inches in Boston, New York City and other Northeast areas. By Saturday night, heavy snow and blizzard conditions are likely from central Pennsylvania, central New York and New England.

Here in Dutchess County, NY we are prepared. Hopefully, the media will not be inducing panic this time!

Protect floors by providing slip on paper "booties" for buyers and agents to wear over their footwear before entering the house. 

A bright snowy landscape should brighten up the home - use this to your advantage. Be sure to clean windows, curtains, and blinds. Keep blinds open and maintain a dust free enviroment. 

Keep driveways and walkways free of snow and ice, even if you have to hire a service. Be a responsible homeowner and eliminate liability.  Sprinkle salt or sand over the sidewalk and driveway to ensure these surfaces will stay ice free.  

Don't get discouraged if you only have a few showings - remember, buyers who are looking during the winter months are usually ones who are motivated!
