We get so many calls and e-mails, trying to sell pie in the sky.  For them to be so active, telemarketers must believe real estate agents are easy picking. 

There are two groups that pester us the most.

SEO Services (Search Engine Optimization):  Wouldn’t it be worth $3100 if we can get you on page 1 of Google?  I’ve asked a few of them to stop calling, but they just keep calling.  The funniest thing is that not one of those companies is on page #1 of Google for SEO or Search Engine Optimization.  If they can’t get themselves on page 1, how will they get me and the other 1000 agents they promised on page 1?  There are only a few spots on page 1.  Hey Google my name, I am already on page 1.

Lead Generation:  I know many agents who have paid for these and it was a total waste of time and money.  I gladly pay for referrals.  If you are a licensed agent and you have a client looking to buy or sell a home in Hawaii, give me a call.  I will give them the VIP treatment and pay you a 25% referral fee.  If you want to sell me names, don’t bother calling.  I don’t have sucker tattooed on my forehead.  Even if you guarantee them, don’t bother.  If I want names, I can go the phone book or the tax records.

I am sure there may be some legitimate companies out there.  I just haven’t heard of any.  Over the years I have heard so many bad stories from other agents and from the blogs.  I honestly can’t remember hearing of a positive story.

I am so tired of having my listing information dissemintated to the masses through other sites, only to have those other sites call and try to sell me leads that should have already come to me.  One of the worst is Realtor.com.  Don't we make up the REALTOR brand?  Why are our own people selling us down the river for lead money?

I had a guy call yesteday tryingto sell me a spot on the first page of google.  He tried to tell me that he could not find me on the first page.  Ashe was talking I did some quick research and found myself on the first page in just seconds. 

 

I was not nice when I EXPLAINED this to him and hung up.

Michelle - They won't stop.

Wallace - I understand people looking for work, but do they really believe that being an absolute nuisance will make someone want to do business with them?

Cameron - It is like having someone stand in front of your office and then asking for a referral fee for all of your walk-ins. I find it repulsive also.

Wayne & Jean Marie - It works for them. They must be making a lot of money. Not so good for the real estate agents.

William - We must both be placed well on Google, because they keep finding us.
