Beautiful photographs Gayle, have a great St. Patrick's day.
Gayle....Happy St. Patrick's Day.... those are some unique buildings!!! nice photos....
Gayle ....great shots as always! Looks like a great road trip!
Gayle,
What wonderful architecture. I enjoyed your odyssey through Astoria, thanks for sharing that. A
Gayle, I sometimes pine for the rustic charm of places like Olney and The Birk. They're just such feel good places! Brian
Well NOW I know Gayle where that pot of gold is from your pictures. Your photos are awesome and what a lovely rural area you are so a part of. I feel like I am visiting your locale every time I come over to your posts. Keep up the good work Gayle, and Happy St. Patrick's Day. BTW, that Olney store I feel like I am just stepping back in time with that one. Simply gorgeous. If you recover the pot of gold and call me from the Cayman Islands in retirement at least fly me down for a fruity drink out on your veranda when you get some spare time....
Hey, everyone, thanks for stopping by! Been dealing with CenturyLink for HOURS on downloading virus protection (they are the WORST, but I had a nice guy helping, and was very patient).
Malcolm~glad you enjoyed them.
Barbara~I have another photo of a cool little building:
Rob~speaking of road trip, here is an old sign across from the Olney Store and as I took this pic, you will notice to the right someone that was following me periodically on my road trip....can you see him?
Alexandra~I have more photos and another blog from that trip, got loads of stuff to share, but tried to keep my St. Paddy's Day theme with this one....
here's a set of old boats I saw.
Brian~I'm delighted that you feel it in your country soul to "pine" for places like these...they are so real and such an expression of Americana at it's most simple and pleasurable!
My hubby and I are going to rendezvous at The Birk for a couple of brews and a little bit of live music just to round out the day.
Kiss the Blarney Stone if you get the chance!
Gary, sweet friend, I'm LIVIN' in my Pot'o Gold!!
I love what my posts evoke in you and the picture of the Olney Store doesn't do it justice--I was in a hurry...the Pepsi metal sign that I have above was right across the street...the little oddities you find in small towns are the BEST!
Hi Gayle, You know I always love your the way you let us feel like we're right there on that road trip with you. Your pictures are gorgeous. I too just love the uniqueness of old buildings. If walls could talk. Have a fun night at The Birk..and dance the night away.
Gayle,
These are fantastic shots and a great way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day - or anyday. :)
Steve
Gayle,
Congratulations. Your post is now featured in the group "Americana." :)
Steve
Gayle,
Don't forget abvout the group "Observances and Celebrations." This post would look good there, too. :)
Steve
William, as always I look forward to your positive feedback...you are quite the localism expert (as well as an accomplished photographer).
Cindy~I am right there with you on the history of these walls...you and I think alike often!
Steve~Triple Thank You!
Here is a photo of one of the owners of The Birk, while he was entertaining all of us last night! (Mike's on the left).
Great St. Patrick's Day blog, I expected to see a gold star as I scrolled down to the comments section. Oh well, somebody was asleep at the switch, or perhaps celebrating with a few Guinness.
The photos are beautiful and you did bring us a rainbow and a pot of gold. And, now it's Monday. Woo hoo. :)
Debb~After Richard nudged us to do one of those blogs that (hopefully) comes back every year at a certain holiday when people are putting in keywords like St. Patrick's Day [in your area], I feld compelled to do this!
I actually took video of the band at one point--arencha proud? HOWEVER, they were out-of-key- can't fix THAT in post-production!
(Thanks, sweetie for the gold star wannabe recognition!)
