For most people across the country, when you think of Arizona, you don't always think of snow. Typically, it is not one of my first thoughts either and I have lived here for over 35 years. This week, my wife and I took the kids on a trip to Northern Arizona to ride the Polar Express. This is a train trip where the kids get to ride to the North Pole and see Santa. Turns out, the day we were going, there was a pretty substantial snow storm in the Flagstaff area where our cabin is. Luckily, the North Pole isn't all that far from the cabin so we also got to take advantage of staying there and playing in the snow.

There are many things that make me say that I love Arizona. From my home in Tempe, I can leave the city and be to Saguaro Lake in about 30 minutes, (Apache Lake is about 90 minutes) Or I can be amongst the Pine trees and snow in an hour and a half as well. Second homes are common here and come in all sizes. We have some really great "get away" spots! If you care to see a few more pics from our trip, click here to visit my blog. Of course, if you know anyone that would like to find out more about our great state.. Tell them to "Just Call Nick!

Nick, I have a friend who lives in Flagstaff, so I know that they get some snow there.  There is no snow here in Vegas, just on the mountain, but it is getting cold here tonight!

I did not even know that you may have snow in Arizona. Wonderful poetic post. Thanks

Hi Roberta. That was more snow, in a short period of time, than I can recall seeing in the area. Your friend might be more use to it. For us, it was fun but COLD and kinda crazy to drive in! :-)

Awesome Nick!  You are pretty close to some great lakes.  Forget the coffee, take me fishin when I come out there.  Looks like you have a nice cabin and a great family!  Glad you were able to get away and enjoy them both!

BTW - The Polar Express with Tom Hanks is now one of our very favorite movies.  It's a tradition for us to watch it and Charlie Brown Christmas on Christmas Eve.  Happy Holidays to you and your family my friend!

PS. Great looking Snowman and little elves! LOL  :-)

Nick,

Love the snow pics.  Summerhaven has skiing,  just 26 miles from Tucson.
