Fishing opener is still almost 2 months away, but now I the time to get the boat ready, especially with the nice weather.

I talked with a friend that works for a repair shop and they are already 1 week behind in their work.  Usually they are not this booked until mid April and it gets worse the closer you get to the opener.

This is a great year to get ready early.  The lakes are close to being Ice Free.  Take the boat our for a good trial run.  Make sure the engine starts.   It is good to check the batteries before leaving for the lake.

Way to many people wait until they get to the lake to even start the motor for the first time and then when they have problems the slow everyone else down who were smart enough to prepare ahead of time.

Another good reason to go to the lake early is just to give the kids a ride.  I know my kids always had a smile when we just drove around the lake for a while.

Be a savvy fisherman...Get your act together NOW! And save yourself some grief on Opening Day!

Being prepared means more happy hours like this on the lake!

Bill...

Those marine engine shops can really get behind here too. Seems like they work around the clock in Spring.

Bill,

As a kid, I saw Minnesota with my Grandma, who lived in Sauk Rapids, near St. Cloud.  Your photo reminded me of good times.  Thanks!

I was at a lake access ramp last year and this guy was hving a real problem.  I had not started his engine for 3 years.

He just sat in the way ans people were getting mad.  There were 5 people ahead of me.

I asked what the problem was and he told me.  I then asked if he valued his limbs, because if he didn't get out of the way there were a few people weere going to re-arrange his limbs for him.

He finally get the hint and I helped him get re-loaded and out of the way.

Watch out Bill now that your weather has become the Florida of the upper midwest, the lakes will be more crowded.
