No. 21 Lobos Fall In Third Round To No. 18 Cardinals, 59-56
Tonight in Portland, Oregon the University of New Mexico Lobos fell to the Louisville Cardinals, 59-56 in the 2012 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. The Lobos under Coach Steve Alford was favored to win this game...unfortunately the tenor of the game changed when Lobos star forward Drew Gordon hyper-extended his knees. It was quite a scare. I think that was the turning point in the game. The Lobos played flat for the most part and just could not muster up the offensive fire power to overcome the advance of the Cardinals.
As the 2012 Mountain West Champion, I believe the Lobos can move forward and hold their heads up high. Wish they would have made it to the Sweet Sixteen, but it wasn't to be. Great Year Lobos. Good Luck in 2013.
