Are your competitors spying on you, too?!!

Do you know what the above link says? I just noticed it the Myers supplied web traffic information on my website. (I may have to check out this service!) It says I'm doing something right, effective!

I am absolutely thrilled that my marketing strategies are being monitored and that some one may be intrigued by what many Active Rain Contributors have turned me on to. They're aware of my techno savvy ways and at the same time unaware of my techno challenged existence! (Constant struggle to stay on top of new ideas).

Perhaps I'm wrong - Maybe they've seen my passion for this business in normal conversation at Broker's opens, meetings, or on the Web. Perhaps they overheard a client speaking about me. Unless they comment here, I guess I’ll never find out.

At the end of the day, I'm flattered! I’m honored. And thank you, my friends, for contributing your wealth of knowledge here every day and for celebrating with me, in the Rain!

Elizabeth - I knew you would be!

Grace - In my sight, Myers Tracks referrers.  I had 4 hits from this site.  It's not a huge deal, but it is a great feeling to know some one may respect my marketing methods.

Brian- I've used Google Alerts to see what certain competitors are doing.  I also have one on myself.  I'd never heard of the particular service being used on me, so I was flattered!  Thanks for visiting!

Suzanne- I guess it can sound a little creepy, but I bet it's just some one wanting to know how I market...They should join AR and read all the amazing blogs!

Hi Natalie - Seeing referring sites like that is an indication that others out there are impressed with your results. Congrats on that, keep it up!

Natalie - I am not techno savvy but I guess you should be flattered.  I just discovered a competitor is using my name in their tags!  Since I posted a blog about it, they removed the tags!  Maybe they will see that you caught them and remove this from your site.  I wonder, can they also be pulling your lead-capture information?

Kathy - Actually, this is different from what happened to you.  My site shows where people  have clicked on to it from Craigslist, AR, Point2Agent, etc.  They are not actually in my site, but have clicked from the referring site mentioned above to check out my website...    Now, if I'm not mistaken, what happened to you might be a violation of the Code of Ethics?  Good for you for figuring it out...

NATALIE: You're obviously doing something right. Learning more about tracking is something that I'm planning for the new year. Right now, I only use StatCounter, but I think that it's important to dig deeper.

Mary - You are too funny.  I don't even scare my fish!

Adam- I hope so!  I've picked up a lot here on Active Rain and I'm reading new material every day here.  I like Google Analytics, but Myers Inc., who I have my website through, also has their own tracking system.  I haven't heard of StatCounter yet...I may have to dig deeper, too!

Thanks, Rebecca.  It is a little rewarding.  Truth be told, I'd rather the phone ring a little more often with potential purchasers/sellers!  But then, wouldn't we all?!

Natalie,

Congratulations on being the trend setter for your area. I have found that if people copy you then you must be doing something right. I have been blogging for two years and I noticed about 6 months ago another realtor here had started blogging. Now there are just two bloggers among 130 realtors here. The other realtor has not even shown up on the search engines with his blog. Guess he did not notice that I submitted my outside blogs to several directories. I do not plan to call and tell him.

Mike, it sounds like you are doing some things very right as well!  I try to stay ahead of the curve here, and I'm beginning to see how doing so can generate leads...just none so far directly from AR...I'm confident it'll happen soon!

Congratulations!  I'm sure you will get some soon from AR!  You probably already get them indirectly from AR.  By the way, I checked out the link you posted above and tried my own website and it said that I am not currently advertising on any search engines.  Are those keywords that you are paying for?  How does it work, I'm curious, especially if it is FREE?  My website is www.isellmdhomes.com

If you get a chance, please tell me what I need to do to get my site recognized more...

Michael - what link did  you click on?  The one in purple is simply cut and pasted from my own web traffic info provided by Myers Inc.  I'm going to go check out your site now...

Michael.  I googled your website and you have a very long google tail!  It's a well put together site, in my humble opinion. However, you may lose a few dial ups due to the amount of animation on your site.  Are you hooked up with google analytics?

Also, I'm not paying for key words.  I tried to pay, but at $50/month google never sent me any one under the generic "Winchester, Va Real Estate."  I'm not sure how much my competitors are paying for their google #1 placement, but it has to be pretty high.

Thanks for your feedback Natalie.  I am not hooked up with google analytics, how do I do that?  Is there a fee for it?  Just wondering.  And what did you do to look up my site to see how long my google tail is?  I am pretty new to this whole tech internet SEO thing...

Michael, I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner.  Some how I missed this q.  Google Analytics is free.  Brad Andersohn (you can search his profile) has some great blogs on this.  However, if you go to www.google.com/analytics you will be able to set up a FREE account.  I haven't yet figured out how to do it on my blog/profile, but that's on my to do list.

Not only are your competitors spying on you, so are your peers, your broker, your clients, your friends, your neighbors, homeowners choosing the FSBO method of home selling, your state's real estate commission, and your local board of Realtors.

And alls you ever wanted was a higher ranking in the search engines. hahaaha
