Did you know C'ville has one of the most active running clubs and running community in the country? There is some kind of road or cross country race almost every week! Check out these resources:
1. The number of events the Charlottesville Track Club (CTC) sponsors is a major reason why Charlottesville was rated one of the top running communities in the country. Each year, the Charlottesville Track Club helps present over twenty-five races, including two events--the Women's 4 Miler and the Charlottesville Ten Mile Race -that attract runners from around the region.
2. Charlottesville Running Company is the new passion of Gill and Francesca. This innovative specialty running shop offers the best in shoes, apparel, gear, nutrition, wellness and advice for both runners and walkers. Please come by and visit us at 110 Old Preston Avenue, Charlottesville, Virginia - 434-293-7115. The store is located at the west end of the historic downtown mall. This will also serve as the new headquarters for Bad to the Bone! Endurance Sports and all our running events.
3. Ragged Mountain Running Shop is a family owned business devoted to promoting healthy lifestyles by providing the best shoes and gear for the individual.
4. Charlottesville Trail Running Club is a non-profit organization comtted to providing trail running in Charlottesville, Virginia and the surrounding area.
I never ran in a race 'till I moved down to Charlottesville. Last year I did 6 different 5-10K races as well as the C'ville 10 Miler and 1/2 Marathon. It's just awesome terrain and geography for running! Hills, scenery, and more hills! I use http://www.FavoriteRun.com Cool site where you can map your routes and get distances. You can also share routes with other runers.
