PHOENIX WOMAN BUYS GARAGEIt never seeks to amaze me when I hear the local news about the real estate market. However, this one was very interesting to me. Local woman purchased home in 2011. She moved into the home like any new home owner. She called the city of Phoenix to perform weatherization to the home. Well, the local officials informed the woman that the structure was originally a garage converted to a home. Well, this is against city ordinance at the current time. It does not allow people to live in a garage.

My first question to myself was "WHO WAS THE REALTOR ON THIS TRANSACTION?" So, I continue to read the article. It stated half way down that the woman DID NOT USE A REALTOR. She purchased the garage structure for $50,000. This is the most expensive garage sale that I have ever seen in my life. Wow, the consumer purchased a piece of real estate on her own. Then, she finds out a year later that she really purchased a garage. The consumer was quite upset and seeking answers a year later. She had proper paperwork stating that it was a single family home.

This is just one great example to always use a professional Realtor when doing real estate so we do not buy a garage.

Well, well, that's certainly a tough lesson learned, but such a good example of what can happen when someone tries to save a little money by doing it themselves. Hmmm makes me wonder what her car is worth since it's the only thing that can legally live in her $50,000 garage!
