I'VE BEEN TAGGED TO WRITE ABOUT "FIVE REASONS TO BUY SOMEPLACE".  I NATURALLY SELECTED MY OWN COMMUNITY, LOVETTSVILLE, LOUDOUN COUNTY, VIRGINIA.  ENJOY.

1.  NO ONE KNOWS WHERE YOU LIVE.  Lovettsville is "off the beaten track".  It's sort of "on the way" to other places like Maryland or Leesburg, West Virginia, the Shenandoah area.  That means little traffic.  The closest gas station is a mile south of town or a mile north of town.  I expect to see one open in mid-town soon.  I must remember to check the plans for the shops in the new Town Center.

2.  THE NEIGHBORS ARE WONDERFUL.  They tend to stay to themselves and only wander in your direction when someone puts that leather thing on their backs and climbs aboard.  I suspect that the neighbors would just as soon stay at home with their family, but, shucks, these folks seem to have an endless supply of good oats.  Beats the grass on the hill.

3.  THE HONEST AUTOMOBILE REPAIR SHOP.  "Lovettsville B.P." is home to the local automobile repair, service, towing shop in Lovettsville.  For several months, I couldn't get my back window windshield wiper to operate.  I took it in to B.P. one morning, left my Sequoia for them to find the problem and make the repair.  They drove me home and about 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon, I got a call that the car was ready.  They picked me up (about 1 mile) drove me to the shop and demonstrated the "fix".  The back windshield wiper worked perfectly.  They gave me the bill 0 $10.  "Gee, that's not much, what was the problem?"   The mechanic smiled and said, "Oh, Ms. Harley, that's not for repair, we didn't charge you for that.  We just charged for driving you back and forth.  The problem with your back window was that it has to be all the way UP before the windshield wipers will work".
So, move to Lovettsville and you'll have an honest auto repair shop.  They have my business.

4.  BUILDERS ARE OFFERING FANTASTIC INCENTIVES.  Indeed, the builders in Lovettsville, there are about 6 of them, are offering wonderful incentives to home buyers to buy inventory or to-be-built homes.  The real estate market in Lovettsville slowed in August 2005 and has remained very slow.  Investors can't sell homes they built for resale.  So, these homes are discounted to below market and incentives are wonderful.

5.  THE 7-11 STORE IN LOVETTSVILLE GOT NEW REFRIGERATORS.  Yes, after a year without working refrigerators in the 7-11 store in Lovettsville, we can now buy milk that isn't sour before it gets to your car.  In fact, with the new refrigerators, they sell ice cream, a Harley house staple.  Of course, most folks who shop at the 7-11 in Lovettsville go there to buy that great 7-11 coffee or buy lottery tickets.  But, now we can also buy fresh milk and ice cream.  Of course, there is no other place in Lovettsville to buy ice cream or milk since there is no grocery store.  There is the deli, but this Lovettsville resident is rather suspicious of milk in the deli mean/cheese display counter.

There was a plan to include a Trader Joe's super market in the New Town Center now under construction.  But, Trader Joe's pulled out when the real estate market tanked.  Can't really blame them.  Lovettsville with a population of about 1100 doesn't really have the numbers of folks to justify a super market.  There is a Giant in Purcellville about 12 south and a Super Fresh across the Potomac River Bridge in Brunswick, about 2 miles.

THE 5 REASONS TO BUY A HOME IN LOVETTSVILLE
1.  Quiet community with little traffic, friendly folk and lovely countryside.
2.  Equine neighbors whose interests remain in keeping development slow.
3.  Wonderful businesses for AC repair, auto repair, pizza, local Post Office and more.
4.  Good buys on existing homes for sale.
5.  Convenience shopping ONLY, which also keeps the traffic down.

Lenn - nice post and it gave a very warm and welcoming feel to your area.  That's one nice view from your home office - I'd be distracted all the time looking out that window!
