Spring Is On Hold...Mother Nature Is Reminding Us It's Only Mid March. Here on the Western Slope of Colorado we've enjoyed wonderful weather for the last week, or so. Temperatures were in the 50s and 60s and, I started buying sandals in anticipation of the upcoming warmer weather. I know it's only temporary, but Mother Nature is reminding us it's still early and anything can happen when it comes to the weather.

Herb plant growing in the snowMy herb plants liked the warmer weather and some of them started poking their little heads up through the ground. Today we got a bit of snow and there is a lot more expected tonight. It won't last long, and it's just a gentle reminder that spring isn't here in full force, as of yet.

This is a tarragon plant bravely checking out the climate. It's a hardy herb plant, so the snow and cold won't hurt it too much, and it will continue to grow as the weather warms up.

I love to garden and growing herbs and veggies is one of my passions.

Debbie - do you need to cover those fresh tender herbs up at all?  You state they'll rebound, but I'm surprised.

Deb - I see you guys are getting odd weather too.  We are under high wind warnings with gust up to 70+ mph, brown outs so bad you literally can't see the car in front of you and snow all around us.  Brrrrr... Nasty day but I showed homes in it this morning and am now ready to write the contract!

Hi, Juli: My chives, tarragon and rhubarb will do just fine. It's slows them down, but won't stop them.

Way to go, John, on the contract. Now it's sunny, but there's a wall of black ready to hit us. The winds have been really strong. We went to Grand Junction today to do some shopping. It's was tough driving back because of the high winds.

So I hear Tucson has snow today, and we are supposed to get a thunderstorm.  Go figure.

Hi, Don. Colorado is caught somewhere in the middle. We have snow and rain. It just finished snowing really hard and now we have about five minutes of sunshine.

Debbie, I am so ready to start planting, and all gardeners are reminding us --- it is still MARCH, and suppose to be our snowiest month.    It has been a very mild March here in Denver!

That's why I never take the snowblower off until mid-April, Debbie Laity.
