There are always two sides to every issue.  Real estate is no exception.  In our market you have the choice of being a bear or a bull.  Obviously, the bulls tend to believe our market will trend upwards while the bear's might feel that we are in for a downward dance.  That aside I think that there is more than enough room for both.

I've highlighted below a few issues that I think have impacts on our market.  Obviously, we all have different opinions, but that's what makes real estate a fun conversational piece.

· The economic rise of China.  The worlds most populated country is prospering more and more.  Will their wealthy individuals bring money to purchase second homes or investment properties?

· The fall of the US Dollar.  Does it bring in foreign buyers whose currency is now worth more?

· Subprime lending is on the discussion board in Washington.  Will the governments attempt at a solution bring relief?

· Does the vast diversity of Hawaii's economic makeup cushion us from feeling the same shocks that certain areas of the mainland are experiencing?

I hope the above topics instigated a little more development of your opinion on our market, and brought out the bull or bear in you.

You are so right about the foreign investors, I'm beginning to see a lot more of them calling me. Calling, not the e-mail scams we see in our inbox everyday.
