Another senseless Central Florida fatality... this time, a young girl taken from us far too soon.  This falls under the watch of Deland Police Chief Bill Ridgway and Volusia County Sheriff Ben Johnson.

May God bless young Julianne Hobbs' family- and may the motorist responsible for her death be found soon.


FHP: Girl, 14, killed by hit-and-run driver

DELAND, Fla. (AP) - Authorities are looking for the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a 14-year-old central Florida girl dead. Another teen was injured.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Julianne Hobbs and 14-year-old Racheal Russell were walking along a roadway Saturday night when they were hit by the vehicle.

FHP spokeswoman Kim Montes says Hobbs died Sunday. She had been airlifted to Halifax Medical Center after the crash. Russell suffered minor injuries.

Montes says authorities don't have a description of the vehicle that hit the girls. An investigation continues.
