Karen Anne, that is a huge difference in price for the same house. I guess it all boils down to location, location, location.

Hi Marchel: Yes, the location makes all the difference in the world. The most expensive part of building a new home is the land it sits on. The Crowley area is more secluded, and the lots are less expensive. And, because of that, there are a few less standard amenities in the homes in that location. The more "prime"... and I know that "prime" depends on one's perception...but the more prime the location, the more expensive the land is, and then the more amenities the builder includes, all of which raise the price. Hi Patricia: The prices here over the years have simply gone up very gradually. Because of that, there has not been a real estate "bubble" here to "burst" like many other areas of the country that were subject to the wild price increases they went through over the last ten years. So... no bubble... no dropping prices. I think many of the local folks have truly been scared by all the negative national publicity in the media, though. They are, in general, just scared to make a move.

I am glad you liked my "streetscape." Oftentimes when I get to a place when writing where I need a word, and cannot think of one, I just make one up. I think streetscape may have been one of those.
