At last, the first snow storm of the season!

I have been waiting for the first snow,Mattapoisett is absolutely beautiful when it snows! One of the many benefits of living in New England is we do get to enjoy all the seasons.

Anticipating the storm to hit later on this afternoon, hubby and I agreed to be home by 2pm so we could enjoy a snow day.

Well things don't always go as planned, the storm decided to show up around noon time and was accumulating quite fast! Getting home seemed to be a challenge for everyone.

Days like these, I love to stay home and cook.

What a perfect day for some New England Clam Chowder, I'm so glad I blogged about it this past summer the recipe was right where I left it. Of course, this was going to require a trip back out to the grocery store.

I took this shot along the way, to share the beauty of Mattapoisett in the winter. I love the snow, but now that the first storm is winding down and out of my system, I can't wait to have a beautiful beach day again!

Enjoy!

Suzanne, what a gorgeous photo.  I hope you keep your power and stay warm!  Let me share my cooking experience today.  I put a pot roast in the crock pot on low and let it sit for 8 hours - without having plugged the crock pot in.  Am I really that absent minded?  Hopefully, you'll have better luck than me!

Suzanne, I'm envious! That photo is gorgeous!  I've never lived in the snow I always wanted to but am not sure I could handle it...it's really cold for me when the temps dip to the low 40's like today.

Suzanne, Congratulations on the snow!!  I heard this song on the radio this morning and I thought that it was quite a combination!!! Rod Stewart and Dolly Parton.  You're kidding me right?

It's cold outside.  Sorry for the link.  I couldn't help it.

Ahhh, the first snow storm...and what a storm it is supposed to be. Is it still to be a good 'ole Noreaster? I miss the fall seeing the leaves change color and the first snow. Great photo!

We have seasons here...they're just kinda all meshed together. Our winter is usually 2 weeks, then back to spring/summer combination :)

Natalie,

I'm surprised we haven't lost the power, sometimes a little bit of rain will knock it out. I failed to mention, I forgot the pototoes on the first trip so I have to go back to the grocery store. LOL! I know absent minded all too well...I guess you will be having a late dinner too? ;)

Mary,

I have learned to dress in layers, I can so see myself retiring someplace warm for the winter months. The first time I went to Vegas it was Labor day weekend and it was hot, I love the heat but that was intense! ;)

Tracy,

hmm....now you peaked my curiosity, I will have to check out your link! :)

Cris,

I met someone in the grocery store who was up for the holidays, they were wishing they were home. They are saying another storm for Sunday! Maybe hubby will take me cross country skiing...;)

One snow storm a year is enough for me :>) But it sure is beautiful! I think I like the photo better than the real thing!

Oh my gosh!  I want to make clam chowder now- my husband would do a dance!  He loves it.  We have been blessed with a ton of snow over the past week, here in Breckenridge, Colorado.  It really gets you in the holiday spirit!!!

Cheers!

Meredith

Suzanne, we had two separate school events at two different schools this evening and Mick is out of town. We ended up with pizza bites and a California blend!  Not as heart warming!  We did run through McDonald's on the way  home and picked up - get this - apple dippers!  They were too tired to fight hard for fries!  I can't believe you went back out in the snow...

Hi Natalie,

Luckily, I have 4-wheel drive makes it kinda fun! Apple dippers....I can only imagine how many calories those once healthy apples now have! LOL! :)

Hi Sally,

C'mon over there's plenty of chowder, and you can sit by the fire to keep warm! ;)

Suzanne, that is beautiful!  I'm also glad to live somewhere with all the seasons.  (Sometimes all in one week!)  Glad you didn't have trouble getting to the grocery store!

Suzanne... I was wondering if you had any accumulations out your way.   The roads around here were pretty slick by noon by I didn't have my camera with me.... Suppose this is just the start and they'll be other days.

Now I know I shouldn't answer for anyone else, however in Sally's case we are looking at Hawaii or where you are in the snow? Doesn't seem like much of a decision to me! *lol*

Now that is absolutely beautiful Suzanne.  I'm glad you finally got your snow.  We have been getting snow fall for the past couple of weeks and this morning, more.  What beauty it holds.  Have a wonderful weekend my friend and keep yourself warm and cozy!

Hi Craig,

Awww...thanks! Do you get much snow? We are expecting another storm this weekend, fun! :)

Suzanne,  That looks absolutely beautiful!  What a great place it must be.  Makes me want a big snow storm to come our way.  We are expecting snow tomorrow but in Virginia you never really know what's coming.  Sometimes the small amount of snow ends up being a lot of snow, sometimes a lot of snow ends up being rain.  I bet you could guess what the kids always hope for!  Have a wonderful season!

Hi Kathleen,

Thanks for commenting. The same thing happens here because we are so close to the water, it can go either way. I think the kids were disappointed today school was open! HA! :)

Cross Country skiing sounds great...it's been a long time since I've done that. It's a wonderful way to enjoy the scenery and get some exercise at the same time. If you do go, enjoy it!

We've been very mild this past week for this time of year, so I'm sure the visitors were wishing they back here :)

As much as I DON'T miss living in the snow, I have to admit, there's something about the SOUND of snow falling when you are somewhere quiet enough to hear it....  it's just magical!

Hi Cris,

The first time I went it was -14 (I don't like the cold) but once your going you don't even realize how cold it is. I loved it! Thanks for coming back :)

Hi Sandi,

I think we were the only ones out and about in our town....now that you mention it, I like the quiet too! ;)

We don't get much snow  in December. We ususally get a couple of good snows in January or February. My wife says it always snows on her Birthday and wants to go somewhere warm. I don't blame her. lol
