AggieCon comes to College Station this weekend, March 23-25, 2012. The oldest student-run science fiction convention will be held at The Hilton, College Station (801 University Drive East) from 9am-2pm on Friday, March 23rd, all day Saturday, March 24th and from midnight through 2pm on Sunday, March 25th. This is the 43rd year that Cepheid Variable, a Texas A&M student organization, will be holding this annual event.
In addition to 24 hour gaming, art show, anime screenings and panels, workshops will be held on corset lacing techniques, how to survive the apocalypse, what to pack in your Go Bag, basic wire work jewelry making and a demonstration of Artemis: Starship Bridge Simulator. Nerdcore group Area of Defect will be performing live throughout the event. AggieCon guests include illustrator/cartoonist Martin Whitmore, James L Grant and Mel Hynes (artist and writer of Two Lumps), sci fi/fantasy writer Seanan McGuire, sci fi/fantasy writer Jody Lynn Nye, sci fi writer KM Tolan, sci fi/fantasy writer Martha Wells and advice blogger Dr. Nerdlove.
Please make sure to partipate in the art show and charity auction showcasing artwork of artists from all across the country and into Canada. All art will be on display from 10am to 7pm on Friday and Saturday and 10am to 2pm on Sunday. The charity auction will take place on Saturday. Money raised from the charity auction will benefit the local College Station charity organization Scotty's House. This wonderful organization offers services for abused children and families.
Tickets are just $20 per day. Come down to The Hilton, College Station this weekend for some geeked out science fiction fun. You can even do some good by bidding on and purchasing artwork to raise money for Scotty's House. AggieCon comes to College Station March 23rd to March 25th. Wear your favorite costume and enjoy.
