"Experienced Real Estate Counsel" - Advice or Guidance

By
Real Estate Agent with Remax House of Real Estate

I'm middle aged.

Life has been good. Life in real estate (as an investor and agent) has been great.

I've been considering my chosen profession.

I love this business. I love helping others create wealth by buying real estate. (That could be a first time home owner, a boomer choosing a recreation property, or an investor looking to increase their real estate portfolio.)

I've been selling real estate for 6 years. I originally thought I would sell real estate until I found something else to do.

I've been successful as an agent and investor. In 2006 I was part of an elite group of agents, making the MLS Million Point Club. At the same time, along with partners, I've been buying an average of one property per month since moving to Alberta in 2003. (We put tenants in the property, pay down the mortgage, and watch value appreciate.)

During the past 6 months ... I've been considering ... "What's next?"

What a valuable process. I'm completely satisfied with my profession ... and LOVE what I do. I want to get better at it. I want to help others create wealth through real estate.

I truely believe that the biggest mistake most people make, is they buy one house ... then Stop.

Realizing that I'm in real estate for life ... I've been considering my 'brand'.

I started blogging, been thinking about my website, business cards, etc. This all led me to the tag line...

"Experienced Real Estate Counsel".

As a real estate professional, I welcome the opportunity to offer advice. I want to be more than an 'order taker' ... or a 'messenger'.

I realize that this won't always be the easy way. It could even get me in trouble. It can be easier to "just take the clients instructions".

I've asked my colleagues throughout North America their opinion on this tag line. Most US citizens believe it confuses me with being a lawyer. (It doesn't have the same confusion in Canada.)

According to Wikipedia, Counsel is defined as:

  • Advice or guidance so given (noun)
  • To give advice, especially professional advice. (verb)

I declare that it is my right ... as a Canadian citizen ... to describe the service I give, as:

  • Experienced Real Estate Counsel.

I'm middle aged. I'm at the peak of my career. I've studied lots. I continue to be educational focused. I will counsel my clients in real estate. I will act and speak from experience.
