Trout season opens Saturday, March 31 in 18 southeastern Pennsylvania counties. Those counties are: Adams, Berks, Bucks, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Franklin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, Perry, Philadelphia, Schuylkill and York.

Opening day for the rest of the state is Saturday, April 14.

Anyone 16 or older must have a license and a trout stamp to fish for trout. They can be obtained at county treasurer's offices, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission's
website and many sporting goods stores. Information about prices and a license application that can be downloaded is available by clicking here.

The state will again stock approximately 3.2 million trout this year. However, due to changes in federal regulations that limit the number of hours Fish and Boat Commission employees can operate trout stocking trucks 100 miles from a hatchery, there may be fewer areas stocked on some streams.

Complete information about the trout season and the rules and regulations is available at the Fish and Boat Commission's
website.

Suzanne, I've never fished for trout...actually not really much of a fisherman at all now, but really liked it as a kid.

Nick - That is when I did all my fishing with my stepfather as a kid. My husband and sons now have all the rods and reels and for a spell we owned a fishing canoe. Yes made specifically for fishing and such. It was longer and wider to hold steady when the fish was a fighter.
