I have been thinking recently about the cd-rom business cards.  While they are a little bit of an investment upfront, I think about the cards I leave places where the people don't necessarily know me.  What if I had my website link, a marketing presentation, etc. on that card.  Would that increase the response?

My husband has a restaurant, which, I know, I have mentioned before.  But to the point, I leave stacks of cards there all the time in the waiting area.  The holder is always empty but I have never gotten a direct call from that.  I did, one time, see the whole stack in the small trash bin directly below them and another agent's cards were in my holder.  After that I took some of the adhesive cards I have an stuck them on the front and back of the holder thinking that would send the message that this was my holder.  No such luck, people still put their cards in there.

I look for the best in people and don't think they are being malicious.  I would hope they don't know it's my husbands place and just think I, like them, am just placing my cards in a favorite place.

Anyway, back to the point.  Has anyone tried these cd-rom cards and if so, what has been the response?  I would love to hear.  I was thinking about incorporating them into my '08 business plan.  Let me know.

i don't use them when I receive them from people that I don't know. I am afraid for a virus

I would not use them because many people will not put the very small disc in the tray.  Not all of the lap tops will not accept very small disc.  I am guessing you are thinking that they are new tech stuff.  What if you give them the small disc and take it home to see what is on it and it gets stuck?  I also know of another Realtor who had an infected with a virus and gave it to all his clients. Bad news

I never thought of that, good point.  Although that would be a guarantee of no business(giving them a virus).

Just my experience - I have received dozens of them over the years. I have never put one in my computer. The first one I got was probably 6 or 8 years ago and I thought "how cute" but never put it in. I prefer to go to a website personally.

I would treat it like any other card!  It would have no significance to me.  It might impress someone else. One of the most successful salespersons I ever meet doesn’t have business cards.

If your asked him for a card, his reply would be "your purpose for have a card is?" This guy was real smooth.  If you replied I want to discuss something with you or talk to you about a deal.  He would reply back "No problem, we can take discuss it now or do you have your calendar handy now?".

His rational was that people don't usually call when you give them a card or in your case you leave the on the counter.

But, if it makes YOU feel good or confident to have CD-ROM Business cards then by all means get them.  If you sincerely feel they will work, then you're right and will have more confidence when you hand them out.  And really, isn't that what selling is all about confidence.

It really has nothing to do with confidence since I am not meeting these people face to face.  I was just curious if they would bring in more responses.  As I said, I leave them at my husband's place.  I'm just wondering who's taking all the cards.

Alayna, I launched my company in August 2007 after a lengthy pilot period.  The agent's on board found succuss in securing listings as a result of integrating our Property Showcase and Business Card CD-ROMs in their listing presentations.  Since our products are not "user created" there is no threat of a virus attacking a prospects computer.  Check us out at www.realestatemediadesign.com.  If you have any questions, simply give us a call.
