14 Comments on Redfin on the Today Show...
Carolyn: nothing more than PR. They're stating the obvious if you ask me!
Kris: I'm with you there!!! Greg Swann made some interesting statements. I linked to his article in my home blog.
I caught the interview on NBC too. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Did he really suggest that agents list a house too high so that we can get price reductions??? It was appalling. Why would we want to waste our time and money taking an overpriced listing? Also, every agent I know uses Craigslist and alot of other sites as well. I felt it was misleading the public with the tease that said Find Out the Secrets of Selling a House That Agents Won't Tell You or something along those lines!
NBC, the liberal network, is touting the redfin model because it lowers transactions fees in real estate. Why doesn't NBC cut its advertising fees to a minimum to help out the down trodden middle class? That goes for Google too! Liberals believe in income redistribution, so what is stopping them? It is all talk.
Warren Buffet believes in higher taxes. So, why doesn't he give the gov't an extra billion a year voluntarily?
It's a well known fact among professionals (that DOES include Realtors) that the internet is extremely important in an effective marketing effort. This Redfin sham appeared, to me, to be a direct insult to my (our) profession and attempted to paint us all with a brush dipped in ignorance.
Every time I see that man talk it makes my blood boil.
Classic, I saw the interview and I almost fell over laughing. No Duh! Must have cost him lots of money to go on national T.V and Make an ASS of Himself. Been using craigslist for 2 years before it was hot and have pulled in about 200k just from this site. Thanks Creg! Thanks Ricardo Bueno

that's the feeling you get when listening to all the hype! What I hate is that a lot of what was said was obvious! Way obvious if you ask me. And it poorly paints a dirty picture of Real Estate Agents. As if to say, they don't know what they're doing.
Heather: I only hope that I didn't ruin your Saturday morning :(
Carol: you said,
I'm sure many people here on the network share those exact sentiments. I myself hate that they alluded to the majority as ignorant individuals who don't know how to sell homes. As if what they had to say wasn't already obvious!
John: you mean it isn't revolutionary? Aww shux... I was gonna sign up for classes too! LOL.
John Hayes: where's Captain Obvious when you need him right? What I found funny was that he alluded to using Craigslist as if it was some revolutionary marketing medium.
Anonymous: you said,
I imagine they're doing so in an attempt to help the consumer. But, if you really want to be the consumer advocate, put someone real on the interview...put them in the spotlight. Put someone that is hell bent on exposing the truth. We don't need to state the obvious and though PR campaigns work, they're one-sided and they only benefit the party launching the campaign.
That's the news for ya!
Ricardo,
I totally agree, just PR for Redfin, and I think most agents understand that pricing is so crucial right now. Also, I noticed you made a company change, "CONGRATULATIONS".
I have been out of the loop for a couple of weeks.
