Kevin,
The good ole days, they don't make them like this anymore. I saw an episode where someone had remodeled the silo quite nicely...Like they say in real estate there is a butt for every seat.. (yes, I cleaned it up) LOL A
Ah yes, Alexandra, pre-stressed, high PSI, 4' thick concrete walls and nuclear detonation ready. I believe I may have seen that one also where they had painted simulated windows with an automatic day/night backlit effect. You did keep it clean, and i thank you for that!
Hi Kevin! OMG I enjoyed this post. I know so many people that are hooked on those Doomsday episodes! I do remember growing up with the "bomb shelters" in the project. How is that for dating oneself? Okay, so I got to bug out now!!! :)
Carol Ann, those were the good old days weren't they? Sing along with me ♫ duck and cover, duck and cover ♪. I used to think that was an effective defense. Times have certainly changed
Kevin ~ I think I would like to purchase one with a gormet kitchen, please!
That's the way to think Dawn, no retort pouch for your meals. Mine has a pool, basketball court and a go cart track (electric of course). Oh yeah, and a virtual golf course.
Funny Kevin, growing up i remember a neighbor who built a bomb shelter it cost a pretty penny & leaked when it rained!...
I was always pressed to find a dry one Ginny but they were considered de rigueur back then. I often think if we didn't have bomb shelters that the evolution of the "deck" would've taken much longer.
Ha, Kevin, these puppies are a STEAL at $300,000 - c'mon, who doesn't need a little doomsday bunker? (If only to have a quiet place away from the kids...) :-)
Karen, exactly what I'm talking about. Built well enough to keep most "kid" noises at bay?
I love it. If it wasn't for the location I would want one. Think of the fun you could have remodeling it!
Karen, I have to think about lawn maintenance too? Being underground there's not a lot of trimming to do and the savings could go into a nice hydroponic garden below. Nuclear, shmuclear!
Georgina, my guess is that there are more than a few available there. An unlimited budget for the remodel would be helpful. Maybe the Mega Millions winner (if any) could assist?
Kevin,
Here is the remodeled version, it has some of your desired amenities and will keep uyou safe when the zombies come for you. This House Will Survive The Zombie Apocalypse
Marge, forgot about the Cessna, maybe a 206 instead of that 172. Those are some great digs Marge. Atlas sites have a lot more room to spread out in.
