Steve's White Mountain blog. It is almost inconceivable that I was able to hike in a tee shirt in March, and on trails that are normally still snow covered this time of year. The Franconia Notch State Park - is the home of Cannon Mountain ski area ( New Hampshire - State owned)....Echo Lake, Profile Lake, Mount Lafayette, Mount Liberty and a number of other 4,000 - 5,500 foot peaks ( all worth hiking if you have the time).
This shot was taken March 23rd - from the top of Artist Bluff - Looking Across at Cannon with Echo lake below.
This shot was taken from the top of Bald Knob - Looking across at Mt Lafayette - the tallest peak in the Notch.
Echo Lake at the base of Cannon...Ice out in March is unheard off - the Teenagers SWIMMING near by -CRAZY!
Profile pond is fed by Echo Lake...and it still has a layer of ice on it...spending a good amount of the day in the shade makes a difference. It is also a favorite for the fly fishermen come fishing season.
Beautiful and easily accessible, the trail head parking for this hike is adjacent to the starting point.
Rushing Brooks - waterfalls, Lakes - ponds and of course great mountain hikes can all be found the New Hampshire Forest preservation areas. There are hundreds of Thousands of acres in the Federal and State parks of the White Mountains. This hike is less than 10 miles from my Real Estate office in Lincoln New Hampshire.
To view all area listing open the MLS icon on the bottom of this post, I hope you have the chance to get outdoors everyday ..Life is good when you have views like these to enjoy all year long. Ski season maybe coming to a close too soon this year but the trails are free of muck and mud and they are waiting for you to explore the country side
All these photos were take March 23rd 2012 - in the Franconia Notch State Park near Cannon Mountain Ski Area.
I hope you enjoy my White Mountain Photos, come back and check out my blog anytime.

I love the Mountains and the water...can you guess where the office name came from?
Wow, there's nothing white about the White Mountains right now! Your pictures are great Steve. I grew up inNH and most of my family is there (seacoast area and Ossippee). Hoping to get up to the mountains this summer and dip my feet in some of those cold mountain streams.
Thanks for the visual trip down memory lane.
I have been doing a lot of out door chores in a "t" that I usually don't get to until late April
Julie...I hope you make it north, my folks are in New Smyrna Beach at the moment but thye'll be heading north soon too.
Steve,
Did you guys have a decent skiing season with the warm winter this year?
Rich
Rich...We had a good season with the invention of snow making machines a so -so - season can be made profitable. So not a bad year in spite of the lack of natural snow.
Steve not a lot of snow, but it looks like you still have a little bit on the ski trails.
George, we expect to get through Easter weekend but not much more this year...I don't read too much in to a low snow year we had over 140 inches last year...so - we'll have a great season in 2012-2013 next year I'm sure.
Wow what gorgeous views Steve! I hope your year is off to a great start.
Bill, we are starting to see a better trend, I hope folks that have been waiting on the side lines - get going or they will miss the deals.
