Montgomery County TX Home Staging Tip: Giving New Life To The Ugly Chair.

how to re upholster an old chair

If you are selling your house or re-decorating your space, you always try to keep your cost down. Here is an example of giving the old chair a new life by painting and reupholstering it. It does take some time but when you see the end project you get excited.

Stop thinking that you are OK with what you already have! Make a step forward toward better interior! You deserve it! And you can do it!

If you feel that you are little depressed, it might be because of your surroundings. Are you happy with the space you live in? Do you think your buyers will be excited too? There is always a way to change...the hardest part is to start. Don't be afraid! Start with something small. Look for your inspiration and think outside of the box.

Fabric stores are not the only place where you can find fabrics. Large prints are popular now but are not that easy to find and can cost you a lot of money.  What I used to re-upholster this chair was a $12 fabric  shower curtain. You can also check table cloths or window curtains at the clearance section in your Home Goods store. Shower curtain standard size will cover 4 chairs.

I didn't need to recover 4 chairs and guess where the Shower Curtain leftovers went? I used it in the bedding. That touch of green was exactly what the room needed.

Hi Anna--you know I love to reuse, repurpose and recycle and what you did with that chair and bedding is so creative and beautiful.  People would pay big money for a chair like that, but as you explain, with a little hard work and creativity you can achieve the look yourself for a fraction of the cost.  Love how you tied the whole room together.

Anna:  You are so talented.  I love the added punch on the bed.  A girlfriend used shower curtains for vest fabric but I prefer your idea.  The chair looks so good!

Well done Anna!  I LOVE the colors....of course it's common knowledge that I love black, and the pattern on the seat is fabulous!

I have a chair that needs a new seat that I'm anxious to do....just have to wait and see what room I'm using it in so I know what fabric to use.

Thank you Maureen, stay tuned I have to more projects in mind...or maybe more LOL

Janet, you right that  little bit of time and some creativity can do wonders.

Roger, thank you . I will be waiting for your pictures.

Thank you so much Valerie, I keep looking at this chair and thinking about reupholstering my whole dining set.

Sharon, thanks for advising your BM Satin Impervo. The paint is delight to work with. I have 2 more items on my list...just can't stop painting.

Janice, people are so attached to the last century wood finishing and old apholstery. It's time to update with vibrant colors and go bold in fabric.

Joanna, thanks. I bought one shower curtain, and than saw the same fabric in my local fabric store. So there is no difference.

Thank you Tom.
