The battle we all faceMy computer is fixed.

I blogged on it, Monday afternoon, when support at DELL told me to: "Take Your Computer to Walmart. You all were so kind with all your suggestions and your own troubles with DELL. A few of you have had none and you can be grateful for that.

The mother board arrived on Thursday, 5 days earlier than I was told. My hubby installed it that night and oh no, "the same blue screen".

On Friday, I called Kevin Williams, he does tech support for the Keller Williams office and the manager had offered for him to help me. (No, no decision has been finalized)

After working on it for several hours in my home, Kevin needed to take it to his office to do more testing, but he suspected I need a new hard drive.

Late Friday night, Kevin called and he had it fixed. It was the hard drive, full of junk and several files corrupted.

However, he fixed it and it didn't need replacing.

I have been using my Tablet PC since then and although great for mobility, not great for a desk top work horse. However, I will network the 2 computers together so I am not without my electronic files EVER again.

Tonight it is home and running like a charm.

Peace and TranquilityI am in bliss, and so very grateful to Kevin.

Missy, I'm happy to hear your saga is finished.  For this time anyway; until the next technology saga happens.  It is a love/hate relationship isn't it.  Love it when it works but hate it when it doesn't.

Missy - that is always a good feeling to have everything in working order. I have most recently lost two of my laptops due to my own negligence that I am lost stuffing myself back in my home office. My desktop is in need of a good cleaning out of old files and update something, it certainly bogs down some. I am lost with out my mobile laptops and know the pain of not having what you are used too. So glad you are back to normal. It's nice to have a tech guy around when you need one!

Missy--Glad you are up and running...We have had to call Dell tech support AND our local tech (Dave the Computer Wrangler) at the same time when something goes wrong. On site support beats the over-the-phone guy everytime!!

Missy-Glad you are up and running again.  I have had a laptop for years and finally got a large screen desktop at the office.  I have been spending less time in the office and really missed my desktop.  I am still trying to get my two computers to network though.  One is Vista and one is XP.  They dont' want to talk.

This is so funny.

My auto repair shop uses Dells.  One day last year, they couldn't get anything done because the computer had been sent to Dell.

They bragged that "Dell is the best because, if they send you a computer with a problem, all you have to do is send it back to them and they'll replace it right away."

Based on that alone, I never bought any Dell equipment.

Missy glad all is well and I hop eyou backup on a regular basis. Our company has Dell in all ten offices we must have about 75 all toll. Our Tech's love them and they have had hardly any trouble to date. We have Toshiba laptops and a Dell Desktop. The Desktop is two and a half yrs. old and runs great.

My next laptop will be a Mac.

Doreen, I don't think Dell has a Tablet. Mine is my motion computer and was started by 2 Ex Executives at Dell because Michael Dell didn't want to fool with them.

Jay, good for you. I am thinking MAC will be my next one too. I may get Mike one for Christmas and transition from it.

Lenn, LOL

Linda, it really is, I feel better than I have all week.

Patricia, I am thinking about it.

Kim, that is terrible I didn't know they didn't talk. Yikes.

Desiree, yea thought I best enter that comment.

Teri, next time, but  there may not be a next time with Dell. In fact, I'm sure it won't be, it's my second one that has not been good, this one in 2006 and one in 2004. The older one my husband has runs fine, it is about 6 years old. Go figure.

Candace, thanks I am so dependant on mine, it has been a hard week.

Marchel, I use to say, You can't live with them and you can't live without them.

Dan, yea me too. It was a tough week.

Since we've been agents, we've lost about 4 hard drives, and have had countless bouts with dell tech support. Not in a while though, he says while knocking on wood, and the good news is we have lost no data yet.

Watched the new bourne dvd last night, and while doing backed up all files for both blogs, our website, and all work folders... took about an hour. And we do that a lot.

Thanks so much as usual for your comments with us. And we really like the graphic here on this one.

cheers, again...

I bet you did a happy dance when Kevin called and said you were up and running :-)

Have you picked up one of those portable hard drives yet for backups?  They are really easy to use!

I am so glad it is working!  That is great and I had heard he is really really wonderful.  That is great Missy.

Now its like you have your own Kase, if you know what I mean.  Not buying a new system is a very good thing.

I love the graphic.

Gary, have you ever used Moxey ? Once it updates it is quick, the first time takes hours.

Jan, :)

Kris, I was thrilled.

Karen, my husband is good with hardware, he use to build computers and worked at UM. However, he hasn't done it in awhile and this was great. Mike would have just bought a new hard drive and transfered files an all day job, during his Christmas break. So I am really happy. The computer runs better than it has in years. I'm still probably going to get a MAC for him and learn it slowly.

Glad to hear you're all fixed.  Boy, it does feel like you just lost your right arm when the computer goes down, doesn't it?  As to Dell, they're great if you're under warranty.  They've come out within 24 hours for me several times, and usually have the right part, based on my conversation with their guarantee people.  If you're not under warranty, it's a different story altogether.  I've experienced both - can you tell?
