Sunset Beach, North Carolina is a Paradise that is a well kept secret

Having lived here for almost nine years I have found Sunset Beach, North Carolina to be a Paradise that is a well kept secret.

Locals want to keep the Sunset Beach area to themselves and most were not happy when the last authentic pontoon swing bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway was replaced by a modern high rise bridge. Waljking on the Sunset Beach High Rise Bridge

Last Authentic Pontoon Swing Bridge was in Sunset Beach, NC

The weather is a perfect reason to visit with temperatures rarely below freezing or above the 90's. The average temperature in the winter months is in the 50's. Now that's typical spring weather in the winter here in Sunset Beach and the golfer's from out of town just love it. Spring temps may hit as high as the 80's and after September the 70's with November in the 60's. The Weather in Sunset Beach with a breeze from the ocean, now that's Paradise...

Sunset Beach is the southern most beach of the Brunswick Islands of North Carolina, that can only be reached by bridge or boat, is known for it's family oriented atmosphere, single family homes, lack of high rise condos and limited commercial development.

Sunset Beach Sea Trail Golf

Brunswick County is known for golf with over 621 holes to challenge your handicap with or just have some plain old fun. Envision playing along the Intracoastal Waterway where an occasional dolphin has been known to swim by.

Care to tackle some fishing off the beach or on the pier in Sunset Beach? Bring your boat or rent one to enjoy a fisherman's paradise of bluefish, tuna, sea bass, mullet, black drum, croaker, snapper and king mackerel.

People who live near water for some reason are known to be calmer and more tranquil.
Is it because they are retired? Not necessarily, research has shown that the wave patterns in a person's brain can be altered by the sound of ocean waves and the sounds induce a tranquil state of mind. Take a walk on Sunset Beach and enjoy the peace and tranquility...

I don't get it ~ Disguise means to conceal as in hide .... meaning we want to keep it to ourselves ... but can't

Karen, You make Sunset Beach pretty appealing!  It's been awhile since I've made a beach visit, way overdue for a little ocean water on the feet :)

Hi Karen, You are so lucky indeed to live in some a beautiful place. I can see why locals would want to keep it all to themselves and people want to live there. I didn't know that about brain waves and the ocean.... but it makes sense since we have so much water moving through our bodies. It's probably why I love being by the ocean so much!

Karen, boy are you a tease, coming from Long Island, you know our beaches don't compare. If I get there and descover your secret you'll have to meet me to share a bottle of wine at sunset on the beach.

Karen and Frank,

Disguise, conceal, cloak, prevent recognition, mask, illusion -- we live in paradise here in the South Brunswick Islands of North Carolina.

You rock!
