This is a picture of me and my Mom standing outside of The Russian Tea Room in New York City.  My Mom still lives in the Philadelphia Area and I am planning to visit her in February.

While in Philadelphia I will wander the downtown and see what others do not see.  I will see the buildings that used to be there and not the ones that have taken their place.  I will see the Streets of Philadelphia as they once were, back when I was a "Working Girl", rising to new heights in a world where women just weren't before me.

My Mom is one of the most amazing people on the planet, and yet if I didn't blog about her...she wouldn't be Googleable by her name F. Lyn DeLoggio or Flora Roslyn Roberta Halper, her maiden name.  When my Aunt Mary Scaramuzza passed away, and my story about her was the only Google result, I realized how blogging about people who deserve to be remembered is something each of us can do for our loved ones.  People who deserve to be "known".

Today, tell a story about one of your role models, your wonderful elders, and do so by their name.  Because Google should know about them, and we should help Google know them.

Ardell this might be a good idea to share with the head of active rain a blog about a favorite mom, or mentor.

Hey Ardell, I think Teri might be on track.  Recently, I asked readers of a different blog to share stories about their business mentors and there was'nt a single response.  I like what you're doing, but I need a little time to prepare a tribute to someone special.

Ardell,  What a wonderful idea.  A tribute to someone meaning in my life.  I can think of so many.  My husband. My Mom.  My Dad.   My third and sixth grade teachers... and so many others.

Ed,  The problem is there are so many blogs here it is impossible to catch them all.  I don't think I saw that post.  How can we get to them all, blog on our own, actually carry on with our business... AND have a life?

Ardell I like that you want your Mom to be googleable (god, blogging isn't even in the dictionary yet what about that one lol)  My parents are gone but maybe I can write a story on my other blog about my second cousin the video producer. He'd like that. Got my grandmother up on the wall at Ellis; that felt good.

Carole,

My Dad passed away when I was 19, but he is NOW Googleable!  Don't let dead stop you!  There's plenty of dead people on Google Search :)

You're from Philly?  No WONDER you got attee tood.

I grew up in Cherry Hill, went to high school in North Philly, and college on the Main Line.

Your confrontational blogging, loved and appreciated by me, makes perfect sense now.  I'll bet Geno loves you!

I lived at 82 Partridge Lane in Cherry Hill for a while in Fox Hollow.  Started Real estate there at the old Mafucci Building.

Well I love Geno.  We're both, tell me how you REALLY feel kind of people.

I just blog like I talk.  I don't consider it confrontational...but I know some do...mostly agents.  My clients don't.  But I'm probably tougher on agents than I am on clients

That's is FREAKY!

Was that Connie Mafucci ? I seem to remember that name in real estate.  My parents worked for Jim Buividas then reMax of Cherry Hill.  My father also used to work for Real Estate Data, Inc (REDI) from 1980 until he retired (by then it was First American Real Estate Solutions) in 2002.

We lived ay 16 Orchid Lane in Windsor Park. I used to swim for Cherry Valley against Fox Hollow.  I played Babe Ruth and Legion Ball witha lot of guys from Fox Hollow.

I know you're not confrontational... you're just...one of us

Brian,

I am thinking of being in Philly at about the same time...to see my Mom.  It's been too long.  I'm thinking I'll head down to Orlando Florida first to visit some friends and get some sun and then up to Philly before heading back to Seattle.

Yes, that is Connie Mafucci...though I never met her personally.  Coldwell Banker bought out the Fluehrs at Poquessing in Philly/Bucks County and Connie Mafucci at the same time.  The Fluehr boys, Jim and Joe, bought it back later and some Australian guy named Bernard ran the Jersey side into the ground.

Peter and Gail Rubin ended up over at RE/MAX where your parents worked, but my main association was with Eileen Friedland, my real estate Mentor, who ended up at Fox and Lazo...turned to Fox and Roach.  I think it is now Prudential Fox and Roach.  There were some fabulous mentors in that office.  Gloria Daniels was a trip!  If your parents are still around, ask them if they know any of those names.  I was a very lucky lady to be in the midst when I was starting out.
