what's happening in Southwest Florida; where are all those dumptrucks coming from? and did that man just say what I think he did?

I was talking with my boss, Joanne, the other day, and I told her that I thought one of the good signs for our market was that there were suddenly dumptrucks everywhere, in some cases blocking or slowing down the traffic. For a mortgage lender dumptrucks are a good sign, because that means people are building things and that's a good sign. The biggest reason to me is that building creates

JOBS!

It is a sign of a return to a healthy economy, a sign that we're

heading in the right direction

I must share with you that it was a little comical that Joanne called me the next morning to tell me that she was on her way to the Realtor meeting, but was going to be late, because of the traffic, and oh by the way, there's dumptrucks everywhere.

She did manage to make the breakfast on time, at one of Southwest Florida's premier communities. We're really spolied in that they're everywhere. I might add that this one was held in the courtyard and the weather was truly spectacular.

The community director was giving a presentation and he kept on mentioning

New Construction

Now there's two words we hadn't heard much from for quite awhile.

did he really say new construction?

Actually, once again it seems to be going on everywhere. Now let's not get too crazy here, not at the heyday levels, but at nice consistent levels.

Seems the presenter had another problem.

they had built 8 units, but had taken 14 reservations. Best get a move on with that new building accross the street.

If that conversation seemed odd to my ears, one of the Board members in his presentation was speaking of multiple offers, and increasing prices.

multiple offers? increasing prices?

good stuff for us...psst you might want to check us out soon.

So what's the answer?

real estate is recovering quite nicely in Southwest Florida

the dumptrucks are doing their thing, because of the increase in building

and that man really is excited about the

New Construction!

ps; me too!

the new now. the dumptruck index.

Put your name in front of it and call it the J B Dump Truck index.

It iwll counter the Case Shiller index.

Good morning, Jay..... that's great news for everyone in SW Florida..... when new homes re-energize, you know the rest of the market is doing better....when resale homes have buyers, those sellers can buy new homes....
