God Bless the Sanford Police Department

Folks will notice a new logo/image at the end of my signature line for a while. It's the badge of the embattled Sanford (FL) Police Department. I will include it for an indefinite period of time as a showing of support for this local police force- a group of folks on the streets 24 hours/day in looking to both serve and protect all of us here.

The Sanford Police Department is coming under fire from all parts of the world these days. It seems that anyone who doesn't work or have anything else to do with their lives has decided to hurl one accusation after another with regard to the Trayvon Martin case.

The police here have been called incompetent, they've been called racists, they've been accused of a cover-up, of "protecting one of their own". You know something funny, though? If one of the folks protesting ag ainst the Sanford Police Department were getting robbed, who would they call for help? Surely they wouldn't call a bunch of racists...

God Bless the Sanford Police Department

Perhaps it's time to break out the Justice for George Zimmerman T-shirts and signs. With each passing day, Trayvon Martin looks less and less like the innocent lamb to Zimmerman's slaughter that folks would like him to be.

Nice try, folks- but until you come up with a great deal of information to contradict the eyewitnesses that support the fact that Trayvon Martin committed an act of thuggery upon Zimmerman, you're gonna have a long, hot summer full of protesting.

Prediction: George Zimmerman will never, repeat, never spend a day in jail- and the sooner you learn to accept that, the easier it will be on you.

May God bless Trayvon Martin's parents- but may God also lead them to send race-pimps Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson away. Trayvon's parents have recently moved to trademark his name and some slogans- a pathetic money-making effort at the expense of their son (no pun intended). Al and Jesse's money-making ways are rubbing off- and that's not a good thing.

God Bless the Sanford Police Department

Karl - " The indisputable fact is that a 26 y/o man pursued, confronted and then shot and killed a 17 y/o unarmed kid for walking down the street...and no one was arrested."

That is not indisputable fact. We know Zimmerman pusued Trayvon. We know they had a confrontation. From there, we know nothing except there is a dead 17 yr old boy.

Dennis - A few points:

1. It would be nice to see you and Bonnie discuss this situation. I think the both of you contribute greatly to the possible perspectives of the people involved.

2. If Zimmerman was painted as a big nuisance, then I would think that more investigation would have been done on him. I honestly think the cops knew of him and probably hated when he called, but nonetheless, knew who he was based on their previous encounters with him.

3.Trayvon's mom stated that the screams for help on the 911 tape came from her son. I know my son's voice when he cries and when he screams and he is only 7yrs old. I am inclined to believe the mom.

4. Trayvon's past is not rellevant as it doesn't show any signs of theft.

You make very good and logical points. It would be interesting to see how all this unfolds. Thanks for taking the time to contribute.

Hi, Karl:  Thank you for dropping by again.  This will most assuredly be an issue in which we will have to agree to disagree- and (at least from my end) hold to the Reagan-era theme of disagreeing yet not being disagreeable.

You say that I "seem to what to project some sort of blame onto the Jesse Jackson's and Al Sharpton's of the world for making this a national (and international) issue."  Yep- dang straight.

"The indisputable fact is that a 26 y/o man pursued, confronted and then shot and killed a 17 y/o unarmed kid for walking down the street..."  Really, Karl?  Indisputable's a mighty big word, Hoss- I'm not comfortable using that in speaking to a great deal of things here, and there's no way I'd use your chain of events as the be-all end-all.

Did Zimmerman pursue Martin?  At some point.  Did he confront him?  At some point.  And did he shoot and kill him?  At some point.  But we're missing a good bit of time and sequence here- if things were so dang simple, things would've already wrapped up.  We'll one day see how close reality mirrors all of the perceptions and misconceptions.

Will I have been right about everything?  Don't know.  I'd be a goofball to assume so, though- and I won't do so.

"Trying to deflect the core of that essential issue by constantly referring to Jackson and Sharpton in derogatory terms just does not work".  Not trying to deflect anything, Karl.  If Zimmerman is guilty of a crime, he should be punished accordingly.  I just don't know that he's committed a crime that justifies punishement- the jury's still out on that one.  Oops...they haven't even been seated yet.

And lastly, I will continue to wave the flag and support the Sanford Police Department and all of the folks that choose good over evil and the high road over the low.  As long as Sharpton, Jackson and the rest of their ilk remain here, I will continue to call them what they are.

They are bigoted, race-hustling, race-pimping opportunists that 1) rejoice in trying to keep blacks' feet moored in the quicksand of the past versus leading them to walk into the prosperity they might see tomorrow, and 2) have no other vocation than to serve as encouragement for budding blood-sucking, leech-like parasites like those we see hawking $10 Trayvon T-shirts.

Hi, Rob:  Thank you for stopping by, and for your comment.  Circus, indeed.  I'm having difficulty, though, in determining who's gonna wear the red nose- and who'll wear the big, floppy shoes.

Hi, Satar:  Thank you for stopping in again.  Not sure that Bonnie and I having a conversation would be that great of an idea.  While I maintain my support for the Sanford Police Department, I also leave open the option that they might very well be in the wrong when all is said and done.  Bonnie may very well be the farthest-Left-leaning and most anti-law enforcement "2nd Amendment supporter" I've ever seen.  It makes no dang sense.

Every day brings another tent to the circus.  Today's furor over the release of the video from Zimmerman's time at the police station is a bit puzzling to me, quite frankly.  Race-hustler Al Sharpton issued a statement Thursday saying the video reinforces the need for an arrest and a thorough investigation of the Sanford Police Department.

Huh?  For one thing, it shows that anyone claiming the cops just let Zimmerman walk away right after the incident has been lying- more beneficial to Zimmerman's side than the other.  Sharpton is also saying that Zimmerman appears not to show any signs of injury in the video, and that's evidence that he wasn't harmed.

But really, Al?  How about this actual police report that few have cared to note:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/86948628/Trayvon-Martin-Police-Report

So....the paramedics cleaned Zimmerman up?  Amazing...that's hard to believe!

I'll also throw in this story from Alabama that is a winner, too.  Gotta love how folks that look to portray Zimmerman as some sort of racist write stories with lines like this:  "Martin, an unarmed black teenager, was shot to death by George Zimmerman, a half-white/half-Hispanic neighborhood watch volunteer...."

OK. lets give Zimmerman the benefit of the doubt and extrapolate on the police report....Zimmerman pursues and confronts Martin against police instructions. Martin dislikes being pursued and confronted by a complete stranger as he is walking down the street and an altercation ensues. Zimmerman pulls his gun and shoots and kills Martin.  Police find nominal damage done to Zimmerman (no hospitalization) and finds Martin dead lying on the ground face-down.

Still don't see how Zimmerman was not arrested because again, you can't pursue then initiate a confrontation, shoot and kill a kid and then claim self-defense.  And it appears the lead investigator felt the same way.

Hi, Karl:  Thank you for dropping in.  This is surely a case study in jurisprudence that many can benefit from.  We have to....have to get to a point in this country where the knee-jerk reaction to an event like this isn't based on race.  Whether subsequent discussions form around that can always be determined as cases progress.

Ever thought about this one...Why doesn't that same knee-jerk reaction exist when a black guy kills a white guy?  I never hear white folks saying "That guy shot him because he was white".  And why is that?  I mean, I figure it does happen from time to time.

My belief is this:  White folks have done a better job of working to heal America's age-old racial wounds- pure and simple.  Evidence of that began in the Civil Rights-era on the 60's, and has continued ever since.

Hard to argue that white folks haven't done more in bridging the racial divide outside of the home- with the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue being the best evidence.  Every registered black voter in America could've voted for him, and he still would've lost without the help of whites.

I'll put to bed the knee-jerk response many will have when reading this post- that "Of course it's easier for whites...".  Agreed.  But think about it...if you're part of the group that's been doing "the wrongin'" forever and getting away with it, is it that easy?

It should be.  But we all have to do our part to heal America.  We have to teach our kids that that kid across the lunch table from them is just as worthy of all America has to offer as they are- whether they be black, white or brown.  Folks of all races deserve equal respect as do those of all economic classes and circumstance.

We have to teach from Day One in order to have better generations down the road.  You might need to rely on that "other guy" one day- and you'll be in a world of hurt if you've spent a lifetime racking up "hate equity" should you need to cash something in.

Dang....OK, back to this case...

"Beyond reasonable doubt"....

The standard that must be met by the prosecution's evidence in a criminal prosecution: that no other logical explanation can be derived from the facts except that the defendant committed the crime, thereby overcoming the presumption that a person is innocent until proven guilty.

If the jurors or judge have no doubt as to the defendant's guilt, or if their only doubts are unreasonable doubts, then the prosecutor has proven the defendant's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and the defendant should be pronounced guilty.

The term connotes that evidence establishes a particular point to a moral certainty and that it is beyond dispute that any reasonable alternative is possible.

Again, no lawyer here.  But just as all of that crazy evidence against #34 ensures that Nicole Brown Simpson's "real killer" would never be convicted, there just seems to be far too much in dispute to overcome the presumption George Zimmerman enjoys.

Let me ask this question: If Trayvon Martin had beat Zimmerman to death would Martin be able to justify the death using the Stand Your Ground law?  After all, Martin was the one that was pursued and confronted.  If so, than does the law only support the last one standing...or in this case the guy who lived?

Hi, Karl:  Funny that you ask.  While I've only heard that even discussed once with regard to this case (and the question wasn't even asked by the Martin side then- which is a bit peculiar), that line of thinking is playing a prominent part on the prosecution/pending trial of my friend that's mounting a "Stand Your Ground" defense.

I'll keep a bit of his specifics out of here, but part of it involves who has the ground to defend.  One can't claim "stand your ground" in a grocery store parking lot unless the "ground" they're defending is their car (valid).

The legal analyst discussing this case said that while neither a victim or perpetrator's ultimate circumstance disallows a claim, Zimmerman was in a capacity to defend ground whereas Trayvon was not.

He could've used a "standard" self-defense claim, I'd suppose.  But part of the case (and perhaps the part upon which all other dominoes may fall) that's yet to be established is whether Trayvon or Zimmerman was the aggressor.

You say that "Martin was the one that was pursued and confronted", and I'll go ahead and agree with that with regard to an initial confrontation.  But there's been nothing to prove with a degree of certaintly that that initial "confrontation" was an uninterrupted one.

Hi, Yolanda:  Thank you for stopping by.  Good wishes, but not at all likely.  They marched again this morning- with Smiling Jesse Jackson and Race-hustler Al leading the parade once again.

I'm seeing a ton of hypocrisy here as I speak to folks.  It's hard to count how many "Not in our city"-type signs have been in the news- yet "the city" is what these folks are hurting right now:

- I had to hustle and speed-up a guy's move-in date for a property of mine, because he simply couldn't get home from work and park within a mile of his old place.

- Businesses have been hurting for a while, and this has forced a number to either lay folks off or cut their hours down....which "we" pay for when they seek financial assistance from Seminole County

All while the race-hustlers laugh, smile, shuck and jive, hoot and holler.  Though unsure of the circumstances, I am sure that this isn't funny.  Why do some think it is?

 Death sure is funny

And 2 more photos/ideas to ponder....

The following is part of Retreat at Twin Lakes' perimeter.  While it is technically described as a "gated community" and does have 2 gates, these breaks in the perimeter also exist.  It might be a bit easier to understand Zimmerman's (and the community's) perspective here if you consider an untold number of folks travelling in/out of the place via this route.  This was how Trayvon exited and re-entered.

Retreat breach

I also wonder how I'd act if (Heaven forbid) this were to happen to a family member of mine.  I'd surely want "justice"- swift and certain.  But I don't think I'd be hiring a "public relations representative" like the one credited with dispensing the following photo handout.  And I don't think I'd be worrying about trademarking their name.

What a crying $hame...

Like everyone, I have read the stories, I have read the accusations from both sides and have heard the Presidents proclamation that "he looks like my son". I wasn't there, and all of the people demanding this and that were not either. The facts of the case are still being investigated. I do believe that the Sanford PD like most Police Departments works hard to get things right, and earn the trust of the entire community. They know that if they succeed there will be less crime and a better community will be enjoyed by all. Let the investigators do their work without political pressure, and justice will more that likely be served. Regardless of the outcome, one side or the other will be outraged. So be it. But the Police Department in Sanford is not the guilty party in either case.

Hi, Dale:  Thank you for stopping by and commenting.  Agreed.  We have to one day arrive at a point where one doesn't have a knee-jerk reaction to blame the police first and question later.

How's this for pitiful.... I got off the phone a bit ago with a guy that wants to see a listing of mine in Sanford on Saturday- and as I was setting the appointment, I thought to myself "Dang.  Are they protesting this weekend?"  It doesn't do much to help sell or lease a place, I tell you.

And be careful with your last line- hate mail's sure to find you!

Dennis, you must not have understood my post.  My point are:

*  That we should not be attempting to second guess the police, because they have far more information than we ever will have.  Add to that the outright lies the media has been telling and we don't have enough information that we *know* is or isn't true.

*  It is horrible that this young man is dead.

*  AND MOST IMPORTANT.  Our supposed "leader" is INCITING RACE WARS for his benefit!  It is disgusting and shows his hubris and grabe for power over the Citizens has NO BOUNDS.  Anyone that isn't afraid of how this man is attempting to "change" our country, doesn't have a clue...or wants to live in poverty.   I guarantee he and his crony business men won't!!

Hi, Georgia:  I absolutely understood your post.  The problem I had with it (#38) is when you spoke of Martin, sating that "He was 6'3" and very athletic with gold teeth and tons of tatoos..."

While it's pretty clear where I stand on Al Tawana Brawley Sharpton, Jesse Race-hustling Jackson and other folks in the black community who continue to maintain that this is an issue of race, bringing "gold teeth and tons of tatoos..." commentary into this does nothing but add fuel to their side's fire by allowing them the convenience of portraying others as being just as racist as they are.

I see where you are coming from.  Additional thoughts on this specific area is that the media is attempting to portray Martin as something he wasn't.    He was a lot larger and stronger than the young boy they keep portraying as being shot.  It is very dishonest and does very much matter.  What a person *is* matters in cases like this.

Size, age, strength all have bearing in this case.  The fact that he had gold teeth, tattoos, drugs displayed on his Facebook page matters.  It gives insight into who he was.

Does that mean he deserved to be shot or that Zimmerman is not guilty?  Absolutely not!  I think the media owes us a true picture of who Martin was, not a totally dishonest one.  That was the point I was attempting to make.

I refuse to play the, ignore reality so I won't be called a racist game.   That is plain DISHONEST.
