Under Promise and Over Deliver

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with EXIT Realty Group, Inc.

This business is a simple business. It is really in a nut shell, Get out and see the people, the more people you see the more you will learn, the more that you learn the more that you will earn. Simple right!

I was brought up in a farming background that included a lot of manual work and the question would always come up what can you get done today. Well I always came up with the conclusion that if I under promised what I would get done then over deliver on what I got done then I would receive great praise for exceeding expectations.

This same tactic applies in real estate sales. When I am with a client to purchase a property or a seller to sell a property I do not promise anything but I in return, over deliver to those client's and by the end of the transaction everyone walks out satisfied.

Of course, the situation dictates all, and with that said you sometimes have to go outside of your normal protocol to get something done or listed. One should not be concerned by this and that by doing this you are actually bringing the most and best out of yourself.

So remember to under promise and over deliver, but don't hesitate to step outside of the box to get something done. By bringing the most and best out of yourself it ultimately helps the client out much more then not.

I think that it's a good philosophy to try and exceed what they expect.

Good advice. I was taught also that you must WOW your clients. But once you achieve the WOW effect, that becomes their standard expectation of you. And thus you must continue to find creative ways to impress clients even more. The more you do this, the more referrals will come your way. Because when they say WOW, they also like to tell their friends about you.

I grew up on a farm, so I know and understand the meaning of the word "work."  Often times we find those that are expecting to reap much, but not willing to exert much effort.  We reap what we sow.  Good information.  Thanks for sharing.
