Winchester Under Ice

By
Real Estate Agent with Realty Negotiations

Enjoy the breathtaking photos of trees, bushes and shrubs taken in my Winchester City yard this morning. Last night, as icicles formed on the grill, I knew the town would wake up under ice. I said a little prayer for all the travelers and emergency responders and anxiously waited for the winter wonders to be revealed in the morning!

I wasn’t disappointed. The city awoke to a most beautiful scene this morning.

Unfortunately, we had a River Birch snap, so we’ll have to work hard to save it. Perhaps we’ll call it Stumpy for a few years. Luckily, I can call the Frederick County Extension Office Monday morning for trusted guidance.

Hi Suzanne.  In the course of creating this blog, feeding the kids and playing referee in my own house, the ice has melted significantly. How are you up in Mass?  Is the snow still accumulating?

I agree, very beautiful photos. We don't get that kind of weather in Orlando (much).

Those pictures are pretty! We don't get that much here in Alabama. I like it when it snows which that is very RARE also!

Natalie - Great photos!  I'm glad you didn't suffer anything more than possibly losing a beautiful birch tree.

Steve - I'd take this over a hurricane any day!  We went through Isabel in Williamsburg and it wasn't fun.

Julie - I told my husband some one sent me a cup of hot chocolate via my blog and he thought I was nuts!  Thank you, I'm much warmer now!

Kim - My kids just love snow and they don't feel there's enough of it here!  I'd love to have Alabama weather.

Hi Kathy.  I think you've read my meme and you know I'm a tree addict, so yes, that was a downer this morning.  Now, how are you doing in Delaware?  I'm sure you've got bad weather there...

Sally - Here's to many more years on the Island safe from snow, ice or cold!

Those photos bring back memories of growing up in Wisconsin. I hope that everyone there is safe and damage from all of the ice was kept to a minimum. It is beautiful to look at, but can sometimes wreak havoc with landscaping and power lines. Stay safe and warm!

Ginger - You're right, the aftermath is breathtaking.  Glad you enjoyed the photos!

Kathleen- Thanks for the compliment on Winchester.  It is beautiful here.  Did you see any ice in Woodbridge?

John- Glad I could take you down memory lane!  Unfortunately, we did have people without power due to trees falling on power lines.

Hi Natalie, No we didn't get the snow and Ice that was expected, only rain.  This was very disappointing to my Daughter who I'm sure will revert back to the old tradition of wearing her pajamas inside out when the next forecast for snow is announced.  Once again thank you for the lovely pictures.  Happy Holidays to you!

Hi, Natalie  As beautiful as those pictures are, I would not want to be skating around on all that ice.  I can't imagine trying to commute to the office in that mess.  We just have snow to deal with, which compared to that, is a piece of cake.  Merry Christmas.

Midori - 31 degrees in Daytona Beach!  For some reason, it seems more offensive in Florida than it would here.  Here, winter comes on gradually, so it's easier to handle.

Kathleen - What a cool idea!  I'm going to share that tradition with my kids and see what they think.  I'm sorry Woodbridge didn't get the weather she wanted.

Sal and Dawn - I'm glad you appreciate their magnificence!  Drop by and let me know if you end up posting any from your area up North of us!

Jessy and Kathy - I'd choose to drive in snow over ice any day.  The ice was gone by late afternoon.  Then, strong winds came.  We were fortunate the wind and ice made separate appearances!

Elizabeth - I can't imagine Minnesota winters!  Burr!  Virginia's not nearly as bad as Minnesota.  Must be why I love it here so much!
