Is the American dream alive and well? Are Homeowners satisfied?
According to the recently released results of the the 201 National Homeowners Satisfaction Survey from HomeGain-- the survey revealed that 72% of surveyed homeowners are satisfied with owning a house. 26% were dissatisfied... and mostly because of home depreciation.
People from the northeast were the highest at 77%... midwest the lowest at 68% by region.
Surprising to me those who had purchased a short sale were the most satisified of all at 83%... perhaps the arduous process creates the feeling of "winning"!
The least satisfied homeowners wer the 18-25 age group, coming in at 45%, the only group to have a satisfaction rate less than 50%. Perhaps these younger homeowners have unrealistic expectations when purchasing their home... also-- they have purchased in a down market, and have yet to experience the appreciation in their home that more experienced buyers have encountered.
