Tahoe Donner completed purchase of Euer Valley

Tahoe Donner recently closed escrow on its 482 acre Euer Valley purchase. This is very exciting news.  In the past Tahoe Donner has leased Euer Valley for use in the winter by the cross country ski center.

I remember taking my 2 and 3 year old son & daughter to Tahoe Donner cross country ski center in early 1990's, putting them on the shortest pair of skis I could find, and introduced them to the sports of cross country skiing. Eventually they were good enough to ski down to Euer Valley and they always got rewarded with a cup of hot chocolate and a cookie at the Cookhouse.  Euer Valley has many scenic trails and I attribute that to my kids' love for cross country skiing.

For the next decade, we were almost fixtures at Tahoe Donner cross country center. My children practiced there 5 days a week, raced on weekends and we even did a lot of weekday night races. Tour D' Euer is an annual fun event that we liked to participate in. This year it will be on March 25th (this weekend) so you should come out & enjoy the beautiful snow that we recently had.

Lisa Wallace of the Truckee River Watershed Council spoke of the importance of preserving Euer Valley, not only for winter and summer recreation, but also to protect the meadow and riparian habitat, fish, mammals and Prosser Creek. This preservation in turn helps protect the Truckee River Watershed. Staff and the board of directors for the nonprofit organization are currently drafting use and access rules for the land, which will outline activities for the valley and who may access the property.

Now that the purchase of Euer is complete, Tahoe Donner homeowners and guests will have the opportunity this summer to access the beautiful valley for hiking, biking and equestrian riding. I can't wait to do some hiking or mountain biking with my friends there this summer.
