Do you some days in your work, or also your personal life, feel "stretched thin?" You know what that is? Emotional tiredness. You need to be aware about yourself that you should always
Love Yourself Before Helping Others
This has NOTHING to do with selfishness. It all has to do with filling up YOUR tank before expending energy, love, kindness in service to others. You are just as worthy as those you help to at a base point have solid well being. If you don't I call it the church lady syndrome. You work and work, and serve and serve, like the church lady seven days a week at church, doing prayer groups, changing linens on the altar, organizing the fall carnival, meanwhile she is not eating properly, NO ONE is hugging her, no one is phoning her or taking HER out to lunch to see how SHE is doing. She is literally falling through the cracks in her own self maintenance, putting off getting her hair all fixed up for her husband, not buying some nice fresh clothes for a new season, forgetting about planning a swell vacation to just relax.
Don't be ONLY a church lady.
Look at five areas to maintain a balanced you with LOVING YOU first and foremost. They are
1. Health - focus on your food plan, exercise, sleep, medical care on YOU and make sure all those areas are absolutely tightened up and top notch. This takes discipline and very tough for that giver church lady type.
2. Goals - ABSOLUTELY make sure you have your OWN goals separate and apart from others you want to help or oganizations or family/partner goals. This is definitely a ME ME ME part of self loving. You want an every two week day spa trip, or want to have weekly yoga classes, or read a book a week, etc. but these are YOU only things you do.
3. Relaxation / De-stress - You MUST find some peace and quiet ONLY you time APART from the world. Some people say it is ten minutes of day of quiet but I think it needs to be more than that, at least an hour, maybe broken up in two 30 minute chunks. Walks, rest in a chair with ear buds on, walking the dog, playing with cats, horseback riding, boating on your own with a lifejacket on, an individual sport
4. Spiritual Centeredness - any form of meditations ONLY ABOUT YOU, is so so VITAL to your well being. Prayer or Meditation on YOU, this is needed to know you are on the right track. This may be that ten minutes in a day.
5. Finally, tons of positive self affirmations into your mind. ONLY you can do this for you. You do not have this personal coach with a big megaphone into your ear in front of the mirror, just YOU. Say You are a good person, you deserve this, I am well, I am the best, I am loved..... you get the point. Pick a few to say over and over again FOR YOU
