Wow! We are finally going to get some snow! At least that is what the local television stations were touting on Saturday morning. But they have been known to make mistakes. :))
Supposedly we were in for a decent snow storm. Going to receive some 6 - 10 inches of that beautiful white stuff. But I was skeptical. Being in that little pocket at the western loop of Lake Erie tends to leave us out of the snow pattern. Southeastern Michigan will get it, east and west of us will get it, south of us will get it ---- but all we get is the report.
I was absolutely tickled when it started to snow around 4:00 on Saturday afternoon.
OK - a little dusting. I'll take anything I can get. But I'm still not getting my hopes up. But I was wrong! Oh so wrong! By 7:00 PM is was coming down pretty good. Heavy wet snow. I was like a kid waiting on Santa! I must have gotten up 5 times during the night just to look out the window!
At 9:00 this morning (Sunday) I opened the slider to get a whiff of the fresh snow. It was exhilarating! I was high on snow! (The legal kind!)
**This is the view from our back slider toward the golf course. The lower branches of the pine are starting to sag under the weight.
Then I had to run and check the front view. The street had been awfully quiet. Then the sound of snowmobiles playing up and down......making little rooster tails. Guess I'm not the only one that enjoys a good snow!
OK - now I can't stand it! I have to get out in it! On with the heavy socks, heavy jeans, sweater, coat, boots, hat and gloves. Where are my keys?! Come on dog - lets go! So into the Durango we go, defrost the windows, put it in 4 wheel drive and off we go! Heading down to the old yacht club grounds and the Coast Guard Station. The best snow views in handy driving time.

**Front side of BayView Yacht Club grounds - Toledo, OH
**Buddy exploring in the snow! He loves it!
**Old Armory building by the Coast Guard Station. In horrible disrepair, but still intriguing.
**One of many wildlife areas in our neck of the woods.
I'll stop here. I took many, many photos. Way too many to post! But the snow is gorgeous. It's clean, quiet, commanding. Reminds us to enjoy what this Earth has for us. To be thankful for all of life's little 'inconveniences' because they too have a purpose. And, possibly most importantly, take time to embrace your inner child. Let the explorer come out! Walk face first into the unknown. Take it - take it all. And be grateful that it is ours to enjoy.
Hi Carol,
Your photos are beautiful. Snow makes everything look so fresh and new. Wow! I would have thought in your area you get lots of snow, goes to show what I know. Enjoy and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
