When you want something, but aren't desperate to have it, you more easily attract it into your life.  On the other hand, when you desperately need something, you actually push it away.  Why? Because you are sending out a negative energy that actually repels what you want.

This is true in sales.  When you desperately need a sale, the customer can smell it a mile away. They sense your desperation and are uncomfortable working with you.  When you relax and let go, when you can say, "If I don't make this sale, it's ok," the sale is more likely.

ThoughtsWhen you focus on the need, you repel success.  When you learn to LET GO, you attract what you want.

There's an amazing story in the Joe Vitale's book, The Attractor Factor, where Joe was hired to write a brochure to advertise a seminar for Dan Poynter.  Dan had offered this seminar for 10 years, but always struggled to get people to attend.

Dan finally let go and asked Joe to help write a brochure so powerful that people would sign up without him having to do a thing.

Notice that he knew what he DIDN'T want (to spend a lot of effort trying to get people to attend.) And, he knew what he DID want (to have people call to register effortlessly.)

The brochure was designed and the seminar sold out.  The amazing thing is that it sold out BEFORE the brochure was even mailed.

How did that happen? Energy

Joe says, "The energy you give out is the results you get. When Dan stated his new intention, and allowed me to create a new flyer for him, he was changing the inner signal he was sending out.  Once you change the way you are inside, the outer world changes. Dan didn't even have to mail his flyer out.  People picked up on the signals...and responded."

So, here's the point.  Change your inner energy and you can change your results.

It is so true. Yesterday I was out splitting wood and when I came in sure I was cold and a little sore , but I felt good and energized. Chaning my outlook and working in the air clears the mind. Thanks for the post.

Short and sweet.

I've always trained agent to try to avoid hard sales.  One of our agents just keeps talking and talking and talking, sells a lot, but had the highest drop rate of all.

My approach is,

  • 1.  Determine the price range.
  • 2.  Show the best homes in that price range in the area of choice.
  • 3.  Give the buyer the information they need to make smart buying decisions.
  • 4.  Always be available to buyers needs.

That's it.

They'll either buy or they won't.

Jeanean - Thanks and Merry Christmas to you as well.

Ruth - I am happy about that.

Charlie - I'm glad I don't have to split wood.

Wayne - You are ahead of most agents by even having a plan.  Good for you.

Patricia - Your comments are an inspiration to me.

Lenn - I agree. I never try to "sell" a house to a buyer.  People don't like to be "sold to."

Dan,

Oh so true.  If one is desparate to have something.... they are actually sending out negative energy.  They are focusing on the reason they need it.  They have to release the real need and focus on how it will feel when they do have it rather than focusing on how it feels when they don't have it.

Once again.... a quality reminder.  Thanks Dan.

Dan-I love the upbeat quality of your posts.  You're on point with this one too.  Clients definitely sense the energy field that surrounds us whether it be negative or positive.

Dan-You are my daily dose of positivity.  I love your posts and now that I'm hooked, I'm not turning back. I'm supposing this goes both ways, if you are so desperate to bring something good in your life, people can smell it a mile away and if you are so desperate to push things out of your life that you don't want there, that can be smelled a mile away and actually bring it to you, right?  Thank you for putting so much clarity into my day.
