Volunteers Needed To Cleanup The Brandywine River April 21, 2012

brandywine river chadds fordThe Brandywine River like all bodies of water near heavily populated areas needs to be cleaned up from debris that ends up on its banks or at the bottom of its riverbed because of thoughtless dumping or debris carried there in heavy rainstorms.

In April 1994 the Young Friends of the Brandywine Conservancy hosted their first annual river cleanup and this year marks their 19th year of cleaning up the banks along a stretch of the Brandywine River. This year it will be a stretch from Lenape, PA to Thompson’s Bridge in Delaware.

Removal of trash is important to help keep the river healthy and beautiful, and often it is through the efforts of volunteers that this work gets done, otherwise it may never get done at all.

People of all ages are welcome to participate in this event which takes place Saturday April 21st from 9AM to 1PM.

Volunteering to do such work can be very rewarding and offers the opportunity to meet like-minded people who value the environment and want to be part of keeping it clean and healthy.

Doug & Gloria, volunteering always makes you feel good, and hopefully many will show up for cleanup!     My Board and I are working on getting some donations for the HUGE fire in our foothills outside Denver, as 6500 people have been displaced.     Just feels good to pay it forward!

Volunteering for an event like this helps everyone in the community. I hope they get more volunteers than they could ever hope for.

Gloria  We have rivers and streams here that receive the same kind of volunteer attention - I hope the Brandywine cleanup is a huge success

Gloria and Doug, I love spring clean ups - it's a great chance to meet my neighbors, get some exercise and fresh air, and really help  my area.  Here's hoping the Brandywine River clean up has a HUGE turn out.  More importantly, here's hoping there's less to clean up as people become more responsible.
