Volunteers Needed To Cleanup The Brandywine River April 21, 2012

The Brandywine River like all bodies of water near heavily populated areas needs to be cleaned up from debris that ends up on its banks or at the bottom of its riverbed because of thoughtless dumping or debris carried there in heavy rainstorms. 

In April 1994 the Young Friends of the Brandywine Conservancy hosted their first annual river cleanup and this year marks their 19^th year of cleaning up the banks along a stretch of the Brandywine River. This year it will be a stretch from Lenape, PA to Thompson’s Bridge in Delaware. 

Removal of trash is important to help keep the river healthy and beautiful, and often it is through the efforts of volunteers that this work gets done, otherwise it may never get done at all.

People of all ages are welcome to participate in this event which takes place Saturday April 21st from 9AM to 1PM. 

Volunteering to do such work can be very rewarding and offers the opportunity to meet like-minded people who value the environment and want to be part of keeping it clean and healthy.
