Spring is here, but I'm with Margaret as to what it is?  It's not creepy, but cool, but what is it?

Margaret they are "fruiting bodies" of lichen---in this case growing on the mortar joints of a brick chimney.

Larry, thanks---see my comment to Margaret.

Back when I was younger I liked taking photos of fungus but I never saw one like that!  It looks pretty cool.

Charles, I am glad that you explained what these are!  They are a little creepy looking.  Have a great day!

Kristin, these are actually quite common on lichen---but most of the time we don't get close enough to see it

Jeanne and Ralph, fungus are pretty cool---George Lucas has nothing over the natural enviroment:)

Tony, they are pretty strange---but cool too I think

How can anyone expect to hit a golf ball well off of any of most of those tees!?  Those are best stored in the golf bag...

The fungi, are pretty resiliant on the planet

Jay, now that would be a very tiny golf ball indeed

Now I know where "golf tees" are born:-)  When I look at fungi, toadstools, mushrooms, etc., I always feel like they are remnants from an alien planet!

This appears to be the trumpets of an army marching up to the sun. I constantly am fighting back such fungi...
