Recently I posted a new listing of mine that you'll see below. This home is for sale...NOT FOR RENT. I've received several calls as I know other agents have about rental scams on craigslist and unfortunately my latest listing attracted a scammer advertising my listing for rent. Of course the scammer is in another country (or so they say) and there are no keys available for anyone to show the house....just walk around the yard and let me know if you like it says the scammer...by email naturally. Money is exchanged via certified checks by snail mail and then the would be renter shows up on the door step ready to move in only to find the rightful owners living there with no intention of moving unless their home is SOLD.
I will of course report this scam to the appropriate authorities and enlist the help of someone I know who is very good at tracking IP addresses...if anyone has any other thoughts I'd love to hear them. Has anyone had just about enough of craigslist?
