There are more and more companies than ever before that will show you the "secret to success in real estate." Add to that the issue that so much information is available online, everyone has become an "expert" in real estate and you have quite a mess on your hands. Today, not only will the marketing companies sell you the secrets to success, but your mother, friend and neighbor all have the answers too. How confusing is that!
Here's what I believe... There is no "secret plan." There is not one approach that will work for everyone. We are all individuals. Not until you take a good, hard look at yourself will you figure out what works and what doesn't for you.
Let's use the top producers (or any business for that matter) in your area as an example. Are they all doing the same thing? Does their business come from the same source? No. It doesn't and it never will. Why? Because there is enough business out there for each of us to develop our niche and be successful.
The same solution will not work for everyone because we are all unique. Some of us have great personalities for open houses. Some of us have the ability to create clients from online contacts. Some of us are incredible at cultivating referrals from the community. Whatever your strengths are, find out and use those to your advantage.
The flip side is you need to be honest about your weaknesses. Do you need help with follow-ups, contact management, marketing, or organization? If you can, delegate the areas where you need a little assistance. Not only will you save yourself the frustration, but you'll free up even more of your time to go and build your business in ways that you are good at.
There is no secret plan. What are you doing today to move your life forward? Make every day count.
Jen good points. While there's a good argument to be made for the individuality of each person's success, one cannot lose sight of the fact that it's not always necessary to reinvent the wheel. There are good ideas out there and it's not rocket science!
