Have you created your own Podcast yet?
Sometimes we need to have a plan that sets us apart from our competition. Using more of the technology availabe is a great way to do that. What would you talk about in a podcast?
Right now most of you guys are aware that YouTube video's, blogging and the use of Social Media is "where it's at." For the rest of you...put down your pager and pay attention. I've been considering typing a long series of blogs that are particularly aimed at very specific subjects. Only that sounds incredibly boring.
For example:
1. What happens after an offer is submitted?
2. What is an option period?
3. Can we see 25 homes from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and do this over a 500 mile area?
I want to address the same subjects I address every day. I have been looking for a way to provide a one stop response platfrom for basic and typical questions. The alternatives are past blog posts, links on a website and of course the obligatory FAQ tab.
I like reading about important stuff. What I like more is multi-tasking. I love podcasts because I can hear what the message is while I type, send emails, fold a towel (I don't like folding too much laundry and intentionally do it wrong so I don't have to do it again) change a diaper or even move a piece of furniture.
With a Video Blog the viewer may feel they need to watch. They may feel the need to watch & listen. And who want's to look at YOU or ME while we talk about real estate anyways? None of us are actors. And last I checked your average real estate professional isn't usually very good with being filmed. Just sayin!
That said,
I'm considering creating a series of podcasts. Not a "show" or some other all about me dialogue while I laugh and pretend I'm living up the life of a disk jockey. But more of a to the point, 2 minute episode that packs the exact information to a very specific question. Nobody will care about my feelings on the weather or who should have won that game last night. What do you guys think?
Creating a Podcast sounds easy enough, too. You can utilize a lot of the syndication benefits, search terms and everything else you would with a blog or YouTube video. I suspect you could incorporate your Podcast channel right in your blog/YouTube channel/Website/email signature and more.
What say you, friends? Are any of your competitors using Podcasts to promote their business? At least you won't have to worry about your make-up!
