The Wake County library system is holding its annual book sale this weekend, March 29 - April 1, at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. More than 450,000 books are on offer at bargain prices.
Wednesday, public school teachers and librarians had first shot. Books are free for Wake County educators, as long as they're for professional use.
The public is welcome Thursday through Sunday. Thursday and Friday, hardbacks are $4 and paperbacks are $2. On Saturday, prices drop to $2 per hardback and $1 per paperback. Whatever is left on Sunday goes for $2 per bag or $5 per box. Bags and boxes are provided.
In addition to books galore, on Friday there will be music -- African drums, anyone? On Saturday, entertainment will include a magic show and Juggle Boy, who juggles on stilts!
The annual book sale is a major fundraiser for the library. About 70% of the books are donations. The rest have been culled from the libraries' collections because of lack of demand. For more information, visit the library website at http://www.wakegov.com/libraries/about/bksaleentertainment/htm.
